Severe Fatigue During Withdrawl

[So...]

Recommended Posts

Does anybody else have extreme exhaustion and fatigue during tapering and does it get better? Has anybody gotten their energy back and at what point during taper did this happen?

I am so frustrated it is my main symptoms honestly mixed with a bit of agoraphobia that happened a few months ago which I never even attributed to Klonopin use but now am realizing is a huge symptom of reaching tolerance.

I am honestly open to any and all advice about fatigue, I feel so tired and I am almost down to 1 mg, so so close probably in the next week I will reach 1 mg and then hopefully be off by summer totally.

Yes indeed! Exhausted and fatigue.

Cry alot due to this exhaustion. Taking a shower is a big deal for me.

Used to jump in the shower every morning, have my coffee and get out.

Now I go up, lay down, have anxiety feeling exhausted and just weird.

Don't know if I have any tips. But you're not alone with this.

I will get better.

At nights I'm less exhausted, do alot more than during the day. Don't know why.

But you will get better ☺

I've been worn out my whole taper, but I really started to feel my energy come back right around 1.5mg Valium, I started jogging a bit again. I still get a day here and there where I'm just very very fatigued but then the next day it gets better. One thing I tried to whole time was just get outside and walk, no matter how short a distance or how slow a pace. I think if you don't move much, your muscles will stiffen up and the tightness makes you even more fatigued. There were plenty of times I felt very tired, but I just went for a slow gentle walk and felt better afterwards.

Grapejucie: Yes walks are good,  even short ones.

When I can't leave my house I do yoga and some easy pilates just to prevent the muscls to get completed stiffed.

Jogging that's great :) congrats!

One day we will all be jogging and smile  :smitten:

Songbird, anything is normal! And my fatigue keeps going down; I'm a million times better now than before. Weight loss and weight gain are both normal - I had both. And now back to my regular size. You'll be okay, pal!

even on a constant dose I was having trouble, and now 2% tapering a week and I get bouts of extreme fatigue. It sucks. I'm around your age too, we shouldn't be having these issues so soon. Oh well. I find caffeine helps, but then makes it worse later. It's usually cortisol related, as when I hit the gym it's usually at it's worst.

Could be because you're not sleeping or eating enough too. I also sometimes find after fatty junk food it usually goes away...

Yeah after my third shot of espresso today nothing was really helping sadly, I'm trying to look at it like this, we are both young, I'm under 25 and your frontal cortex doesn't close until you are 24 so your brain is still developing and not fully formed, hopefully by having youth on our side we can rebound from this and heal more quickly. We also have the rest of our lives to look forward to after we he's, traveling, concerts, doing whatever makes us happy you know that Benzo's have been holding us back from, I have moments of clarity during withdrawal that are more pure and amazing than anything I have experienced since starting Klonopin and my I guess they are called windows or good days are so full of hope, so we got this. PM me anytime, it's nice to find somebody a bit younger who is going through this too, sometimes it feels a bit isolating that I'm not out doing crazy young people shit like my friends lol

Exercise do help! A lot. Before my taper I used to run 60 km/every week. I was to the gym this Monday and I run 7km on the treadmill. I have done it a few times. I have to walk my dog several times a day. And it sure helped me. Even with my sleeping problem because my body and mind gets tired. Instead of not doing anything. I started with 10 min and added 10 min every week. Now is my fatigue gone. Good for the brain too.  :)

Caffeine is a GABA antagonist. It blocks benzo to attach on the GABA receptor. Maybe that's why you don't feel OK? If I drink or take anything with caffeine in it I got many strange side effects. Like benzo fatigue, dizziness, start to shaking and many other strange sxs...Just a thought. When we taper we want GABA to set back to a normal state. That wont happen if we take stuff that effect the receptors. I have excluded all kind of this things both agonists and antagonists to avoid problems because I always end up in a mess if I don't...

Hi songbird... I noticed you said that you have more moments of clarity.... Do you mean like less brain fog ... I experience very severe drugged feelings ; over sedation like I'm always drunk...the right word is like a zombie; like my brain is on pause..... I'm desperate to get rid of this feeling but haven't seen enough people say that k makes them feel this way...I find it extremely potent and it terrifies me

Can you explain more in detail what you mean? Thank you

Hey there I guess I have days where I feel very clear and like everything is in full color, music is better, feelings are deeper and my thoughts are near crystal clear and then sometimes after I cut like this last time from 1.25 to 1.125 I felt very foggy headed for about 7 days and then I had moments of feeling amazing, sharper and brighter than I have since starting a benzo.

I definitely have had days of feeling like a zombie but I just keep cutting and the lower you get the better the fatigue is supposed to be, I am cutting to 1 mg next week and many people have said on Benzo Buddies that once you get below 1 mg the feeling of being overtly sedated gets much better. We've got this!

From experience, I didn't really start to have major issues until I hit the 1mg mark of K and down. Make sure to start slowing down the taper a bit if your feeling worse bc it can creep up on you fast. Happened to me after tapering K too quickly.

Two wheels.... Did you find switching to Valium is much better? I can't handle sedation and mental sxs of k brain fog severe.... I believe mine is dosage related...worried Valium would be worse ....

Sorry for going off topic on this thread

Ok I really hope that's not the case with me, my doctor is very against a valium crossover because I am so sensitive to medications she said if all I am really experiencing is fatigue and muscle soreness than it's not worth the risk doing a crossover and will just prolong the withdrawal experience.

I feel like everybody is different and adding inositol, and just cutting out sugar, dairy, alcohol and gluten has helped a lot

Songbird, I cut out sugar and dairy too but I still use berries / low glycemic fruit in my diet.... Do you at least eat low glycemic natural fruits?

Songbird this fatigue I think is pretty common and I did switch to Valium but wow now I really understand fatigue. My doctor was extremely hesitant but finally agreed after I persisted. But I do my best to keep going. Unfortunately I can't walk far because of my hip but there's tons of stuff I find to do. I couldn't move lol without my morning coffee though. I think my gaba receptors want it and so do I. Occasionally last summer I had the odd beer on vacation. Enjoyed them but not at home so I don't bother with it now because I don't enjoy it. But you're young and have that in your favour. I think you're doing very well. And if this helps the lower I go the better I feel. Have moments of clarity and don't feel quite as drugged. Listen to your body. Don't worry about cuts ahead of time. You could be like others who truly found the lower the better. I think you're doing great but don't borrow trouble. You'll be done before you know it. Just honestly listen to your body and cut accordingly. B

I mean yes and no. I feel more sedated at times and I've been better tapering but as of recently it may have yet again been too fast.

I second the advice of taking gentle walks no matter how short. I know the exhausted feeling makes a person not want to barely do anything, but forcing through that negative "inner-speak" and just take a walk (don't worry about petty stuff like how you are dressed, etc as this can spoil the event of actually getting out and breathing some fresh air along with stretching some muscles.

In my case, I can go from feeling just awful to feeling much better for awhile. It can also get rid of nausea in my case. Just going outside is such a relief from staying in too much just watching tube or resting dos a lot of positive things. I'm not saying to overdo it, but play that by ear.

Of course, this is advice coming from someone that has been sort of trapped by extreme weather/snow for a few months.

Anyway, I hope you start feeling better. Are you eating enough protein? Drinking plenty of water? As low levels of either can really mess up sxs. Water, nutrition and exercise (on whatever level you can do) can make quite a difference at times. I hope you feel better.
