Too much sweating...why?

Recommended Posts

I am tapering my last mg of diazepam at rate of l/2 ml a day. I have had occasional sweating right along, but now it's almost daily...almost all day most days my face feels cold and sweaty but not wet to touch. At around 4 am I am drenched with sweat many nights. It is getting worse lately. Is the cause of this harmful to the body? Anything I can do to help it? Other symptoms are so-so, glad of that, but wondering how it will be as I near the end.

I sweated a lot (seemed continuously) and had night sweats for a while.  I think it's fairly common.  I 'think' that I was able to stop the night sweats by eliminating a 'food' (sucralose) that I was putting into my smoothies at night.  So you might look at what you eat and see if it correlates at all with your sweats.

Of course, my sweats might have stopped on their own on the same night that I eliminated sucralose.  It's not like I did a big experiment.  I just happened to skip my smoothie routine one night and didn't have sweats.  Then I changed sweeteners (to stevia) and didn't have a problem after that.  Still, could have been entirely serendipitous.

I was once awake for one of those night sweat episodes.  It was really weird.  I started feeling kind of weird(er), and at one point I thought that I was gonna pass out.  Then I got this huge rush.  Heart started pounding.  I got real warm, and sweat started pouring out of me.  Weird.

Thank you badso...I don't use sweeteners other than honey and stevia. I am wondering if it's because I'm tapering more regularly than I was before the holidays even though it doesn't seem like much plus under a mg. just curious to know what is causing it. I may hold for a few days when I reach .75 tomorrow and see if things settle a bit to have a better weekend...if things settle.

Might try backing off all sweeteners for a couple of days to see if that has any effect.  Many buddies report sensitivities to sugar.  Sugar and caffeine would rev me up a bit, but I used them (in moderation) anyway.  I wanted some normalcy in my life (even during withdrawal), and coffee/chocolate were just too good for me to give up.

Could also be the speed and level of your taper as you suggested.  You can always hold or slow down a bit and see if that helps.

Im getting that too, the big rush and sweats. Though i have menopause so i assumed that was it. Not sleeping really well because of it. Seemed to get better when I dropped gabapentin

I've had the rushes but they leave me with a headache not sweats but they sure did in menopause. That's done so not that. I went through a fair bit of sweating earlier in my taper. Nothing was an apparent trigger. They just happened. I don't use artificial sweeteners. Never. If you're out I guess it can be a problem but I've always accepted sweat as a very positive symptom albeit uncomfortable at times. When we sweat our bodies rid us of toxins. Sweat is good. So I'm all for sweating. Actually feel better once I've washed my face or showered. If I'm sweating out drugs/toxins to me that's good. My liver is doing its job. B
