Hello all,

I apologize my English is not good as it is my 2nd language. On top of these benzo messe,

MY name is cuz, I am 24 years old and I took xanax 2 mgs for almost a year and I actually didnt find out I was dependant on it until 4 months deep into it and it was helllll when the w/d hit me, not even knowing what was wrong with me was even more helllll. Anyways I tapered from 2 mgs to nothing in 3 moths and it's been a month and a week since I jumped. The first 2 weeks were helllll like most of us, had every symptoms in the book. But I didn't sleep on it, I worked on it, went for a walk, ate  lots of veggies, lots of water. I started feeling better right away. Then I realized that i have to face these demon that I created. I registered for classes and I started going to class these week, even though classes started last week I didn't go to class till today.

Trust me when I say these, it does get better. I feel better everyday, more energized, more focused, memories are better now. But I am struggling with the my red eyes and my hair being all dry and all messed up. But I do belive it will get better.

So just hang in there and make the most of it. You don't have to do a lot, just one at a time, step over your ego. One errand at a time. You might not be able to move but don't just stop, crawl if you have to. Fear is not real, it's all in your head. Take deep breaths get up and wash some dishes or do the laundry, put on your shades and walk your dog, but plz don't just lay there, crawl if you have to.

Positivity is what we need not these horror stories. Even though I was not registered on the forum, I have always came here looking for answers, i just feel like its my turn to give back, so please don't hesitate to pm me for any thing at all. I would even love to meet up and make some freinds.

Make sure to keep you heads high even tho they are heavy.

Welcome to the forum!  We're glad to have you as a new member.  Congratulations on getting off benzos!

You'll find plenty of information and support here.  Our members have gone through all aspects of withdrawal, and you're likely to see  people who understand what you're going through and can tell you what has worked for them.  For those who are currently tapering, we suggest reducing no faster than 5-10% every 10-14 days, and some taper even slower than that.  One exception: very short-term users of a few weeks or less may be able to taper faster than that.  Having some withdrawal symptoms is normal, especially near the end of a taper and for a month or so after discontinuing the medication.  The most common symptoms are anxiety and insomnia, but these are temporary and will go away in time.

Here are a few links you may find useful:

Post Withdrawal Support Board

The Ashton Manual is an authoritative source on what to expect in withdrawal and recovery.  Dr. Ashton is an expert in the field.  She describes and explains withdrawal symptoms in Chapter III, and there is also a section with withdrawal/taper schedules.

Please take the time to Create a Signature.  This will allow others to see where you are in the process so they can better support you.

Again, welcome!
