Carbocaine

[Be...]

Recommended Posts

I had a dental appointment three days ago for a filling and a cap on another tooth. I asked for carbocaine instead of lidocaine. I needed two shots of carbocaine for the two different procedures. I did not get jittery, but it did put me into a wave of sorts. My insomnia has come back for two nights. Last night I got better sleep so I'm hopeful it continues.

I have to go back next week for the second visit to put on the permanent cap. This time I'll ask for lidocaine to compare the results. I'll report back. I'm sensitive to meds these days and went into waves from antibiotics and cortizone cream previously. I guess I'll continue to be sensitive for a while.

Hi ang1111. I remember that I had insomnia for about a week. Whenever I take a med or supplements I get a small wave of sorts, mainly just insomnia. I also noticed that it didn't quite numb me as much as novocaine. What was your reaction?

I couldn’t get numb

Felt EXTREMELY CALM (it was almost like I found the cure to benzo wd)

Arms and legs were tingly

Cold sweats for 2 days

Couldn’t drive

Slow reaction time

Felt like it was hard to breathe

She gave me 3 shots of it and a topical numbing agent of some kind. I’m not sure if I was given too much, if it was topical or if it was just carbocaine itself. No idea.

But, my tooth is not fixed. Which means I have to go through this again and I don’t know what to do!!!!

I’ve used carbocaine prob 8 times for fillings while in WD...no issues. Everybody is so different,  it’s so hard to try and figure what might or might not be safe to take.  Definitely a shitty part of WD.

I just had he same thing done this week and requested carbocaine. I can’t handle lidocaine because of the epinephrine. The drawback is that it does not numb as well and most often you need more injections. The numbing gel probably contains benzocaine or lidocaine. Maybe you are reacting to that. I’m gettjng my crown in 2 weeks also.  I will have to take note if I have more issues at that time too. I didn’t suspect the anesthetic this week but I did have a rough time sleeping that night. I thought it was because of my migraine and the meds I needed to take for it.

I just had work on a tooth to put a crown on and I requested the dentist to use something without epinephrine. He did not really want to do it and talked me into going with the standard Novocaine. Thankfully, it turned out that I did not have any issue with it revving me up or causing any other upsets. Given that the work took over an hour, I think he was concerned about having to stop and numb me up again. I am lucky it worked out.

I went to a different dentist and got ONLY carbocaine— NO REACTION. My reaction had to be to the topical benzocaine. I go back in a few weeks to get the temporary crown off and get the permanent crown on and he said I don’t need numbing for that. I’m getting a zirconium crown/ no metal.
