3 and a Half Months now and still No Progress

[Ma...]

Well I been off the Pamelor for 3 days now because I felt it was giving me broken sleeps, last night  I guess it got out of my system because here we go again with the can't sleep thing! I cannot win, seriously Either I sleep like 4 hours get up and feel completly awful still anyways, or I don't sleep at all

There is NO way 2 years on 1mg of Ativan should be still doing this to me! I canot believe that anymore, I mean I was on other Meds like Ambien, Seroquel, Olanzapine, ect....But Most of those I took Short term like 2-3 weeks tops, Ativan was the only one that I was on longest, No clue why this is still going on!

I at least thought by now if I still had problems going to sleep when I do sleep my sleep quality would have improved, it has not......to me at least by now some signs should have happened that improvement was starting...To Me I believe My Brain is probably damaged to the point where the Ativan won and my brain will never recover again

Mark, could you elaborate on your signature, please?  It is hard to know exactly where you are in regards to the start and stop dates of all the psych altering meds you have been on...and it would help ppl relate to where you are in your journey so they can share their experiences and progress.

As you know, insomnia is one of the most debilitating symptoms we suffer and no matter if we do EVERY single thing the sleep specialists tell us to do, the Benzo recovery still over rides.

It is hard for me to understand why you are in denial that 2 years of Ativan would cause such intense withdrawal symptoms when NO Benzo should be prescribed for greater than 2 WEEKS!!!  This is a scientific unalterable fact.

Your despair and anger are shared by all of us at some point(s) in recovery yet we continue to heal on our body's timeline, not our "want to" timeline...and yes, it sucks big time.

Best wishes...

I figured I wouldnt have to add the other meds as I was not on those near long enough to get addicted or need to withdrawl from, the Ativan was the longest, 2 years is alot but not for 1mg, thats probably one of the lowest doses

Most people here take 2-3 Meds alot stronger and longer periods then me, mg isnt nothing and 3 and a half months I should have shows some kind of improvement with at least the quality of my sleep

Hi Mark!  Sorry to hear you are so miserable with the withdrawal.  Please just try and remember that we are all different and that we all heal differently.  I would think almost any Buddie would tell you that 3.5 months off a benzo is a very short time for healing to happen regardless of dose or length of ingestion.  I understand your concern with sleep and sleep seems to be the #1 issue for the vast majority of us (including me!)

We all would like to be "cured" in a short period of time but it just doesn't happen that way.  I apologize if I am interpreting this wrong but you "sound" like you are very upset and focused with insomnia.  Other topics/threads will reiterate that being obsessed with insomnia just makes it worse.  And I've been there too.

If you want to at least try something to garner sleep, maybe you'd like to use essential oils, acupressure or acupuncture, sleep CD, hypnosis, therapy, etc.  If you believe you are irreparably damaged you may be hindering yourself to recovery.  Please try to reframe your anxiety about sleep.

Wishing you well!

I tries 3 times all day to sleep and still can't.....I cant take this anymore, been up close to a day and a half now again, its seems the longer I am up the more difficult it is to achieve sleep, Its odd I feel tires when up and about but laying down I don't

Your sleep will get back to normal. I've been there, done that. Crazy anxiety about bedtime. Went days w/o sleeping. Now sleeping 5 hours a night, sometimes 6. Thank G-d.
