Hello and thank you for allowing me to join.

I am not on a benzo myself but am a carer for my wife who is in a long protracted withdrawal and still needs a lot of support.

I've learnt a lot about benzodiazepines and the harm they do as well as the severe withdrawal profile that that they have.

I would like to further my experience and understanding of these drugs to help my wife as well as other people. I've seen the devastating effects that their withdrawal can have. My wife no longer participates in this site as she feels she has learnt all she can about withdrawal and just needs my support now. I hope you will accept me even though I've never been on the drugs myself. Thank you, Benzocarer

Congrats on your wife being benzodiazepine free.  I think this will be an excellent place for you to connect with members who have shared similar experiences. A protracted withdrawal is symptoms that go beyond the 18 month mark. Unfortunately this sometimes can happen.

 

You might like to check out The Ashton Manual it is an authoritative source on what to expect in withdrawal and recovery.  Dr. Ashton is an expert in the field.
