nhbuck & Hope,

I froze the whole time that I've been on and off benzos (about 20 years).  It's over!  I'm warm when I'm supposed to be and the freezing appears to be over!

My freezing hands and feet are one of the symptoms that made realize I was in tolerance withdrawal, that combined with pain. I literally tore my sheets rubbing my feet together in the night. I'm almost 10 months out from Xanax jump and I'm happy to report I can't remember the last time my cold extremeties bothered me. I would often soak in a hot tub of Epson salts, but again I was battling so much pain too. It does get better!!

My hands in the past few years are cold winter and summer.

I take thermal images that show dramatically blue hands for

half an hour after coming into home in winter.

People comment when I shake hands.

Feet are not as bad.  Forehead is a little too cold.

A recent image showed that one hand is recovering better in 15 minutes;

not sure if that's a trend.

I've always felt the cold but now I am always freezing, it feels like my blood just isn't getting to my extremities. I am almost always huddled under my duvet on the sofa. I can't lay in the bed all day because S/O works shifts, so I'm always on the sofa under my duvet, even when the heating is on. It takes me about 6 hours to get my hands and feet warm in the mornings too. The winter weather here (UK) is strange, one day it can be almost t shirt and shorts weather, the next you're looking for polar bears lol. It can get so warm here in winter that some animals come out of hibernation too soon, which is a big problem. Anyway this really doesn't help if you're dealing with extremes of body temperature.

Hi!  I am 3 months post jump and had hot and cold moments.  Then it seemed to even out.  About two weeks ago I noticed I was getting very cold during my sleep (around 2am).  Absolutely freezing and then my arms or legs tingle.  I think we can all safely assume this is withdrawal.  It's the most annoying thing when you can't warm up.!

I hope you get a window soon and if you are in a colder climate all I can say is bundle up.

I had cold extremities too, but not any more.

I really had this "cold from the inside out" thing going on - almost as if my "inner thermostat" was faulty - for a long time.

One thing that made a significant improvement for me was food! I added an extra small meal in the afternoons and made a priority of remembering to eat! I imagine our bodies can do with extra input during all of this period - after all, the building blocks for repair of our neuronal networks, quite apart from basic "staying alive", must come from somewhere  ;)

Anyway, this may be worth trying if the idea resonates with you.

:)

I like Fizzle's suggestion of eating.  I've noticed just before I got this freezing wave that I was more hungry and have been eating quite a bit.  I concur it's our body telling us it needs food for energy to heal.  Hang in there!

I was always too hot while on the benzo and during tapering.  Now I'm cold more and hot less often.  I wonder how withdrawal is affecting our thyroids?

Sitting here freezing and relating.  It's winter here in nyc and while it's warmer than usual I am colder than I've ever been.  Is it withdrawal? Oh yeah.  My whole body is a mess.

I like the notion that it may be our body telling us we need food.  I was reading another thread about not being hungry and I realized I have not had true hunger since I jumped.  I find myself not eating until later in the day and the correlation of that to being cold seems like a smart deduction.
