How long after benzo withdrawal to wait to taper off lamictal?

Hello,

I finished my taper from lorazepam about three months ago and have been planning to come off my last medicine, lamictal, as well. I don't want to risk any protracted withdrawal symptoms. How long should I wait before it is safe to begin the lamictal taper? Thanks!

I would think that you would want to be pretty well recovered before starting another taper.  Probably don't need to be 100% 'healed', but at least 70% and preferably 80+%.

How are you feeling since you zeroed out on lorazepam?

Thanks for the advice, it is much appreciated  :)

I was doing really well until about two and a half weeks ago when I took an antibiotic. That threw me for a loop and I still haven't recovered from it which is frustrating. I so badly want off the lamictal yet is probably is wiser to hold off for now, especially since I'm now dealing with the aftermath of the antibiotic.

I'm not sure why you would want to get off Lamictal at all. I have bipolar disorder and Lamictal 200 mg is the one med I will never taper from. But then I have a mild seizure disorder too, so that's that.

I'm glad lamictal works for you! I have dissociative identity disorder which had been misdiagnosed as bipolar disorder when I was a teenager. A lot of trauma memories/connections/reactions actually bubbled up from my subconscious when my brain was on overdrive during the lorazepam withdrawal. It was a pretty crazy experience and one I'm glad is over.  The lamictal isn't effective for me.
