Happens to me too. But I think It's a good thing. Maybe kick starting those receptors. But I will keep exercising because the last time I was in a wave, it eventually helped.

Hi nhbuck,

The vestibular system (balance system) is badly affected by benzodiazepines because they act as "vestibular suppressants". It can take awhile for the system to normalize once you've come off the medication.

We've got a support group for dizzy ("floaty" "boaty") people, and there are quite a few references at the beginning of the thread, as well as throughout. Have a look if you want to get a bit more info about it. Of course, you're welcome to join us as well.

No. It's a symptom of withdrawal, and like the other symptoms, we have to ride it out. It can be a rough ride for awhile, but it may not last too long. Like with everything else, we're all different. Many medications can cause dizziness -- not just the benzos. Antidepressants can do it, as can other psychiatric medications. But so can strong painkillers and a long list of other types of medications.

The brain works pretty hard to try to get back to normal, though, so that's what most of us are waiting for. I'm hoping it's a short-lived withdrawal effect for you.  :)
