5% reductions bi weekly

Does anyone reduce diazpeam/Valium every two weeks.

I'm thinking of doing about 5% reductions every two weeks but just want to know if any of you have tried this and how did it go?

I'm confused. Your subject says, "bi weekly." Then you say 5% every two weeks... None the less you could try 10% every ten days. IMO that would be a good starting place. If you were doing 5% bi weekly, that would be 10% every seven days. Possibly still doable. The slower the better. You've been on it for three months. That's not too long. That's usually the recommended stopping point. The longer you have been on it the longer time your CNS needs to re-set itself. I've been on a benzo since 1991. I'm fryed. I was trying 16% cuts every seven days. That didn't work out well at all. Slow and steady.

I think bi monthly would be every two weeks. You've been at this now since last March and roughly half way there. If you need a slow taper such as 5 percent every two weeks then sure try it. But Sonia you'll soon have to make a plan and try to stick to it. You might need to tweak it but having some sort of plan is helpful. It honestly serves as a guide. Not someone else's plan although many here are forever offering good plans but just adjust according to your needs. B

Hey Sonia, yes, a plan is such a help, which is i guess y u posted.. a plan needent b set in stone... but if u change it have a reason or thought behind it...

The plan u SHOULD use, is just as B said, one that suits you... advice is fine, but you decide...

I let my symptoms guide me, -I use my worst 3 sx, stomach pain, insomnia and RLS...  My plan gets me to 1v (.5 cuts every 14days or so) -then i am looking at slowing down... so the % will increase somewhat as i get there... and i may not even get to 1v like this... thats fine, -i will titrate... my choice... and i know i can ask if i need help, -thanks in advance all... :)

For what its worth, i feel u r on the right track, -listen to your body... imho.

Sorry I meant every two weeks not bi weekly haha!

I do have a plan its just that my plan is going to take forever to complete

I don't want to be tapering for years. I've slowed right down since 6mg and I'm shocked at how long the remaining 5mg is going to take. I was just trying to figure out a way to speed things up but not be irresponsible doing so.

I am down to 8 mg. It will take me a year! I will hold soon for holidays. I will hold for 2 months. Need to be stable. And when I come home I will go from dry cuts to liquid. I have done a schedule....I wish I could taper more aggressive. But I need to hold at least 5 weeks between cuts because my w/d comes so late ( slow metabolism in my liver, enzyme problem).I hate it but need to function and accept it. Rather feeling good for a year than be a mess for 6 months and end up in a new relapse...

I'm tweaking my plan right now because I hate taking my doses. So at least while it lasts I'm taking off .5 cuts (or was) every five days. It's not a picnic but I feel better on the lower dose. So far. But to be cautious I'll wait a bit longer right now until I cut again. See if my body needs a catch up. If not I'll keep up my pace until I reach a point that it's way too difficult. Rushing isn't the issue so much as avoiding doses. The smaller they are the better but this means every four hours. I'm fine with that though because once or twice a day and I'd be bedridden. Or very very drowsy at the very least. So every plan often needs tweaking but it's nice to have one to fall back to. B

Sonia, i guess it depends how u have been feeling after each cut thus far... i guess it helps to know what BAD is, but thats not something i would want to search for for no reason...

So if all has been fine, u could look at speeding it up till u feel things more, and adjust from there, or stabalize a bit... -if things arent so great now, settle in and do it at the speed your body says... -it may get easier as u get lower too... time will tell..
