Depersonalization during taper

[So...]

Recommended Posts

I don't know how to describe how I am feeling right now and that really freaks me out, I feel not very connected to the world around me or my body, I feel like my brain isn't functioning at 100 percent and I just don't feel connected to things, it's a very strange floating sensation. Anybody have any suggestions on how to help deal with this?

Unfortunately we just have to ride it out when it hits.  I think some people updose when symptoms are uncomfortable.  I don't get this feeling very often but when I do I just have to go with it.  I just tell myself it is my brain working on healing itself and trying to get back on track.  I am tapering super slow because I have a very sensitive CNS and doing a LMT.  It is easier for me to catch the symptoms and hold for them to pass then increase in severity this way.  With a dry cut and hold I could not do it.  Plus I was already in tolerance when I started my taper.

Remember to breathe...  I have to remind myself as anxiety is one of my symptoms on a regular basis. Klonopin is a beast.

Songbird, where are you in your taper?  And how often are you cutting?

Hi there thank you for the response, I am cutting every 14 days now but before it was much slower over a period of two and a half years, starting at 3 mg and every few months decreasing by .25 with no symptoms at all. Once I hit 1.75 and decreased by .25 every month for the past two months things have been a lot harder.

I am now on 1.065 and plan to taper to 1 mg next week.

I hope to be off completely by June 1st and then plan to do NAD IV amino acid therapy after my jump to help my neurons heal and hopefully resolve any underlying anxiety issues.

It looks like you may trying to reduce too quickly. The recommended reduction rate is 5 to 10 percent every two week. The best way to minimize symptoms is to do a slow gradual taper.

Dear Songbird,

You have been cutting pretty fast but if you feel you can handle those cuts then that is up to you. There are recommendations here to go slower and I know you want off but just listen to your body. Those recent cuts can catch up to you so use caution. I just read up on NAD therapy.  Interesting concept. Not sure on that one but if you are going to try it we would love to hear about it. I am wary of such programs. I cannot handle b vitamins and several other supplements right now so getting infused with vitamins would send me into a tailspin. I have never craved these meds and they turned on me quick so I am an addict by accident.  Major life events led me down this miserable path that I am slowly crawling out of. Good luck and keep me posted on your progress. I only wish you the best and if that therapy works that would be amazing.

I got severe DP/DR when I did a way to rapid taper. It is scary. When I had my relapse and start to taper slow these symptoms stopped. Last time I had them was in September last year.
