Help with a psychological illness. Computer displays and anxiety

[os...]

Recommended Posts

Hi i want to know what illness is this and how to overcome it, it seems to be something psychological

Each time i see a computer display with bright lights being showed i start to

get anxious and my breathing starts to get lower

I too get a Little bit anxious when i see tv displays, and white ligths

What i have until now is this

Maybe is that because i saw some terrorists videos i became scared and then

the white light or bright lights of the computer display became associated with

the unconditioned stimulus (fear), so maybe that is why i show these symptomps each time i see computer displays

You got it?

What do you think?

How can i overcome this trouble?

As I read your post Oscar, I wondered if you have PTSD (post-traumatic-stress-disorder) from learning how to use a computer. Technology can cause stress, I think, especially given how fast its evolved in the last decade.

But it looks like the source of your anxiety is what you’re watching. I would avoid like the plague anything that causes you to become anxious. This would include reading news articles that trigger such unwanted anxiety.

The world we live in makes it easy to be informed 24/7….it’s best to avoid this information glut if you want to maintain a measure of peace.

I do feel we should be aware of what’s going on….I just would try and not make a steady diet of current news events. And ALL violent videos would be axed and replaced with peaceful content! :)

Thanks! I can only imagine how trying this is for you. I have PTSD and avoiding the issue takes effort as I have always refused to medicate. I am here due to medication for insomnia.....I dearly regret that decision. I thought I was doing the right thing..enhancing my quality of life.Too late to change that decision!.oh well we learn....still suffering for that poor choice!  :(

Hi, i was taking medications for more than 7 years, and i decided by my self to stop taking those, so i borned again and now i am living the best life of my life, i am really happy, so i do not recommend you to take any medication for mental health such as xanax (alprazolam), benzodiazepines, antidepressants, others, those are from what i think, live without be live you know? that is to live just as if we really do not have live, because what live is that where do you can not think and have all you cognitive fuctions working normally?

So if you are taking any drug, stop taking those with a progressive plan, and for any mental discontrol, thus, panic, anxiety, right, try:

* Find a partner (boyfriend or girlfriend): if you have anxiety ask your partner for a massage, or any relaxing activitie

* Drink hot liquids

* Do any activity that relaxes you: run, stay outdoors, at backyard, the park, with the lover to ask for massages, smell fruits such as mangos, taste some milk, foods,

If you just focus in the anxiety it will dominate you.

* Avoid what causes you anxiety until you find how to overcome it.

* Do not take medications such as benzodiazepines, those do not help, is what i think

I hope you to get cured  :)

If you have troubles for sleep, causes by PSTD, first stop taking medications progressively, then use systematic densensitization, and that is!, always just forget about everything and do not be too much worried.

:)

What medications have you been taking and how long?

What best describes your diagnosis?

In my case every time i see bright lights, specially from computers i gets a little bit anxious, but it is like a small hole in roof of my house: i just can ignore it and when i can i will fix it. I still want to know more about how to overcome my anxiety causing trouble (small anxiety when exposed to White lights specially from computer displays).

Most of your suggestions are things I am doing and they definitely help as distractions. :)

But realistically, time is what it’s going to take in order for me to recover from the damage these drugs have caused. I just have to be patient.

I am no longer taking either benzos or z-drugs….haven’t for some time now. My signature below gives the exact dates of when I stopped taking these drugs.

I do take a very low dose of a pain medication (recently began taking 1/2 a pill daily). The damage to my entire being was SIGNIFICANT, and I’m still in a lot of back pain from this benzo ordeal.

Insomnia is the only reason I began taking Ambien/z-drug.

And I was briefly on Ativan/benzo to alleviate the horrific symptoms that slammed me from taking the Ambien.

I do have PTSD, but I have maintained one thought only all along as regards whether to medicate or not this diagnosis. And that is.....When well-meaning doctors have suggested I try certain drugs in order to medicate this disorder, my response 99.9% of the time has been a polite 'no thanks'.

Anxiety is a formidable foe to reckon with and I would like to be done with this pesky foe. Realistically, it's not possible to control all facets of my environment so as to live in an anxiety-free world. That would be utopia! I do try and avoid things that aggravate my PTSD, but doing this is an exhausting job.

The cause of my PTSD will never miraculously disappear given the state of affairs on earth.

I do have a positive outlook for the future though. This outlook involves a radical change from earth’s current condition to a condition that includes an end to anything that causes unhealthy anxiety. This future hope helps me to cope, but it does not isolate me from stressors. And although these stressors are annoying, they do not characterize/define who I am. :)

You sound like you are coping well and it looks like you have a plan set in place once your ready to go there....to finish working through certain existing challenges. I hope things eventually resolve, and your quality of life gets even better!

A therapist would be a good place to start Id say. I know talking with a psychologist is good for me to ask questions like this and usually some form of therapy can help that's not a drug of some kind.
