Hi  :) Welcome to BenzoBuddies!

Congrats on being benzodiazepine free. A cold turkey withdrawal is a rough way to go. I did it three times. On my second time I had really high blood pressure that brought me to the ER, but they were able to bring it down over a few hour period. My top number was often over 215. Depression is fairly common after a CT withdrawal, especially during the early months. Like all symptoms it is just temporary. It will get better.

hi,

tnx  for your welcome words and support. i'm really  depressed now, only sleep two three hours per day, and i get exhausted. i phoned my shrink and housemd, they wil come this afternoon. i'm afraid they want me to go to a mental hospital. i can't  take care for myself anymore, don't cook, can't get to the shop, can't go to a psychologist and so on. my kids er bring frozen food but i don't have the energy to cook eat end do the dishes. i only have this cleaning lady who comes every week; but she can't cook. i don't now what to do any more, i lie on the sofa all day until it's six o clock, i go and try to sleep but by nine o clock i am awake again. what should i do, listen tot my doctors or trying to hold on to my sefdestructiv wayof living. like i have diabetes and i stopped eating like  should, i eat a lot of suger cause the give me energy, i don't give a damn about my sugar level. ii also take this high blood pressure pills, howi dream about not taking them and silently fall into a death sleep and let everything go. it's really going bad overhere.

Hilde, I am so glad you are going to get total care, you were in such a bad way...and of course all of those BP meds can lead to depression and other not fun symptoms....I wish you the very best and hope that you will post again when you are able.

The way detox centers give even MORE drugs is why so many of us don't go...the good news is that those new drugs are not as hard to taper off later....you had said you couldn't take care of yourself...and that is reason enough to stay.

The not so bright news is that withdrawal must be lived through, there is no escaping it...and it most often is a process that takes longer than detox places will keep you.  I hope and pray that your place keeps you til you stabilize and are able to take care of yourself.

Hi, Hilde! yes blood pressure can be a problem in withdrawal. Once at a detox clinic my blood pressure went up to 270/140. I almost suffered a stroke, they had to take me to emergency. My family still doesn't believe my blood pressure went that high, but it did :/, and I remember that I couldn't stop crying, and the nurses were telling me to calm down. Awful stuff!. Now I'm taking Coveram 10 mg (1 pill a day) for my BP. I'm also on Efexsor (150 mg) it's working really well, hang in there! the depression will past once your brain goes back to normal after quitting benzos :)
