One beer

Does anyone think I will have significant issues with one beer? I'm on vacation and haven't been able to enjoy one minute. All I want to do is get home and start looking for jobs because I feel so guilty and useless.

You have not been off for long as this goes. I am at 13 months now. I may get flamed for saying this but I believe it can be done in moderation. I had like two glasses of wine of Christmas eve with dinner, then on new year I had a few glasses of champagne, and then about a week later I had like two draft beers. It made me a little dizzy but in a good way. It did not seem to change anything I still have the same shitty symptoms I have everyday, it did not put me back into acute or anything like that. I don't believe one beer will do anything, others may disagree.

From my experience and I have had good and bad from alcohol you are playing Russian Roulette. Just be advised! It is so unpredictable until you are completely healed.

Beeing a year out of benzoes I had 4 beers a week ago.. I drank em relatively early in the day. it was good expirience. Then getting sober, there was a few hours there where i didnt feel human.

Funny enough next day i woke up into a window and felt great for a few days. This i dont think matters much though it and probably coincidence

Personally i havent bought my last beers, if i feel im stuck, cut loose and shake the bag.

I think you need to be like +6 months out, and healing well to even have a shot at a good expirience

But i only drink, naturally on rare occassion

Else i would be worried

Russian Roulette is right...

I had a few beer at 11/12 months off (Sept-October) and I was OK. Not great, but OK.

I had a couple this Xmas and... OH. MY. EVER-LOVING. GOD... was I sick for 8 days. My central nervous system is still extra sensitive almost 3 weeks later.

Be careful.

you could try a few non-alcoholic beers first since they have.4% alcohol in them. See how you do with those. About 10-12 non-alcoholic beers equal 1 regular beer.

One would be fine but unfortunately one isn't really enough to take the edge off or ease your anxiety. You are pretty early on in WD. I would probably wait

Why?  Because any alcohol affects the GABA receptors...  That's what benzos affected.  That's why NO alcohol at all.  I know that's a difficult one to give up, but you have to.

Alcohol is similar in some ways (GABA)but much different overall. It's probably best to avoid until further down the road when you are healed or close at least. Personally I was fine with 3 or 4 drinks starting at about 10 months off. Pretty much 0 negative effects as long as I keep it moderate. My advice though would be to take it slow and error on the side of caution for a while.

Benzoduck I've just gone past 7 months and I've found the same thing. I didn't drink at all before this month. If I have vodka and keep it in moderation and not got blotto, I get 0 symptoms. I had 3 beers the other day though and felt shocking. I swear there is something in beer.

I cannot understand why anyone who has been through benzo w/d would want to tempt another addiction.

I've had a massive setback from alcohol. I felt pretty much healed last year and was sleeping and feeling great. Drank a bunch of beer at a holiday party and now I'm back in hell. My insomnia is now back too. I just want to off myself. I wish I could go back 4 weeks and shake some sense into myself.

A little over a month ago, I had a glass of wine at home and the next day, just didn't feel that great. By the next day I felt better. About a week later I was having dinner with my wife and Brother and Sister in Law. I decided to have a glass of wine while there. About half way through the glass, I felt a little odd but it went away. About 24 hours later I started shaking and had several muscle spasms. Very scarey! Since then I had some milder episodes. I'm finally feeling better. So, for me, I am staying away for some time, maybe 6 months before I have anything alcoholic. I'm a little gun shy after this experience. I've had a couple of beers earlier in my withdrawal and didn't notice too much of a difference in how I felt. Wine may be different in how it affects the neurotransmitters. Again, I read that you should be absolutely symptom free for no less than a year before attempting alcohol.

im in the same boat i drank a few weeks ago and now im dizzy all over again, this happen to u?

Yep burning skin, agitation, crazy thoughts and my worst symptom insomnia all came back. The big problem is I waited a whole year off to try alcohol again. Started very small and didn't have any problems. So I thought I was in the clear. Just got stupid one night and now I'm paying dearly for. I can't tell anyone not to drink, but I can warn them.

You seem to have gone through the same taper and cut as I did and at about the same time. You are about 5 months ahead of me in time off. Were you symptom free before you had a drink?

Yes, felt basically 100% healed. Now, not so much. Very very angry with myself. I love beer, but I won't ever drink again. Not worth it at all.

what were you taking the hydroxyzine for?

It was suppose to help me sleep (and supposedly it cuts anxiety some too) when I first came off. Antihistamines don't work for me for sleep. So no help there. I just quit taking it after about 10 days.
