Does melatonin interact with benzo?

I have read that melatonin interact with benzo.

Is that true? It is a hormone I know, but I have read that it works on GABA too. And no more GABA triggers for me.

I tried Passion flower a GABA agonist. Also MAO inhibitor.

I went really weird. And it was tea with lemon balm too. Also a

GABA agonist. And I defiantly wont increase GABA. I need it to be back to the normal state...

I cant tell You what to do or suggest anything but can also share My experience with melatonin. First of all if You go to the net and do a search on melatonin used during benzo withdrawal You will find several articles. In some countries melatonin is given to patients during benzo withdrawal. THEY claim in the article that it can help with the WD symptoms. IM NOT saying this the article did .

In my case some nights it provides some MUCH MUCH needed rest and light sleep and other nights it does nothing. I have a pre existing major depressive illness and in MY case melatonin and K depresses My CNS . other people have reported this and if You look on the internet You will find opposing articles regarding this subject . Some say it makes depression worse others say it helps.

I only take 1mg or less. Two years ago I also used L tryptophan during the end of My that taper but then again that also depresses the CNS and intensifies the sedative effect of a benzo as does melatonin so do Your home work / talk to Your doc or pharmacist then decide. The internet is loaded with info on both but beware lots of bogus info on the net. Articles written by unqualified people.

A small dose of 1mg of melatonin has worked well for me throughout my taper and I use it nightly. I haven't found it adversely effecting withdrawal from diazepam.

If I get insomnia really bad which is usually only a couple of nights every few months then I use a small dose of unisom which works very well for me.  :)--V
