When you have a chance, we highly recommend that you take a look at The Ashton Manual, which is an authoritative source on what to expect during withdrawal and recovery, authored by Dr. C. Heather Ashton, who is an expert in the field. It provides a great deal of information that can be very reassuring during any stage of this process, including a list of common symptoms with helpful explanations on the reasons for their existence.

Hello Challis99:

Although it is certainly basic required reading for anyone contemplating a taper, I'd like to suggest that it might be helpful to also point slowtaper at some information regarding micro tapering, which the Ashton manual does not contain. I think we have learned a lot about benzos since the book was published. In my opinion, one of those things is that 10% is too rapid a reduction rate for many people. I think difficulty with the AM taper rates has led to the development of micro tapering, which I have used successfully. My impression is cut and hold seems to work for many people who don't have previous destabilizing events like CTs, and to cause problems for people who have multiple drug issues, failed tapers, etc. I hesitate to dispute with an administrator who has almost 25,000 posts, but obviously I don't hesitate that long :)

Thank you for the all the people you've helped to free,

Aweigh
