Paradoxical reaction/ feel like fainting after my dose

Hi, I'm new here and my story is very long. I CT K last August (only took it for 9 months) and drastically cut Valium from 200mgs and was on 30mgs until a few days ago. I went through hell after I CT the k, but the most horrible sxs were gone until around Christmas, I started feeling very lightheaded, dizzy and these last days I feel worse every time I take my dose, I feel like fainting, haven't been able to shower for 6 days because I'm too dizzy, with vertigo, palpitations, jelly legs....I thought I was doing better, last November and half od Dec I was "kind of fine", I even walked on the treadmill for 1-2 hours and now this again. I feel worse every time I take my dose, so I'm thinking about CT, my body is having paradoxical reactions to the Valium  :(

Hi BeeFree, the fainting feeling, lightheaded and vertigo are among the worst of my symptoms that I have experienced during this taper.  The brain zaps have been pretty bad as well.  I had an extremely difficult time showering because I couldn't close my eyes, and would always have to hang on to something.  It was awful.  I have had to fall to the floor just in case.  It also got so bad, and to the point where I needed to use a walker because I was so dizzy, and weak feeling.  It does get better.  I no longer need a walker, and am able to shower without stressing out.  Throughout this taper, there are times where I believe that I am having paradoxical reactions to Ativan as well as sometimes I feel worse about an hour or two after I take my dose, but am terrified to CT.  Hang in there as it does get better, and you will heal!  :)

Thank you Seekinghope. It's been 6 days since I took a shower, and the last time I did, I had to ask my daughter to sit outside of the shower because I was so dizzy, with vertigo, jelly legs and had tachicardia. I do feel like it's a paradoxical reaction, after the anaphylactic shocks my body reacts to everything and I've taken Valium for too many years and way too much. I'm desperate because I'm really scared of taking each dose  :(

So glad you are doing better, you give me hope  :smitten:

Wow 200 mg a lot so congrats on how well you've done. Valium does this to me as well usually after a dose. And the doses are small. I don't quite feel faintish but definitely dizzy with jello legs. I'm usually ok in about two hours until the next dose. I have a shower chair which has been sometimes the only way I can have one. It does get better though. It's just awful at the time. I also have a walker originally from a broken hip but I've yet to use it. But I sometimes get out my cane. It's amazing how much it helps balance and even strength.  B

Don't be hard on yourself as you have come such a long way, and should be proud of yourself.  I was in the same position as you were.  The Tachycardia has also improved as my resting heart rate was 160bpm, and now it's not nearly that high.  Please hang in there.  It will get better.  :)

Thank you Seekinghope and benzo barb. Yesterday I was about to CT Valium but someone convinced me that it's not the best way. I held on 30mgs all December but since I started feeling worse by the end of December I've been very unstable this month, taking from 15 to 25mgs, but I decided that I will keep at 25mgs. Praying I feel better, My hands can't stop shaking and the fainting/vertigo feeling doesn't go away. I feel like I'm missing on so much, I'm just watching everybody live, just wondering when will I be able to live too...
