Cold turkey valium withdrawal

[rm...]

Recommended Posts

I used Benzos on and off for about 3 years,  but my last Benzo was Valium,  and I was on only that for about a month.  I'm 17 days in a cold turkey Valium withdrawal,  and I feel like shit.  I don't want to reinstate.  Should I?  I just want this over with.

Reinstatements are rarely recommended unless there are life threatening symptoms. Like seizures. Subsequent withdrawals are worse than the first. You have been on them for a long time and you cold turkeyd so it could be pretty brutal. You will heal eventually like the rest of us.

At 17 days off, the symptoms shouldn't get any worse now.  As nostalgiapathy said, reinstatements lead to potentially (and likely) worse withdrawal symptoms.  If you can hold out, I would.  Most people regret reinstating because they find they are worse off than before.  Not everyone...most.

I personally would not reinstate. They are typically only done if symptoms are debilitating or life threatening.  The risk of even more kindling would be to much for me. At 17 days in you are likely still in the acute phase of withdrawal.  Symptoms during this time can be severe. This phase on average lasts about 4 to 6 weeks. There is a lessening of symptoms following the acute period, and a gradually healing process past that.  You have to give yourself a chance to heal. You are not even three weeks into this.  Things will get better.

Thank you!!

I've kindled a million times, and I'm so sick of it!!!  I'm glad that my intuition is right! :o

And what is your intuition?

The thing is to me you are going to have to go through these symptoms and you can choose to do it now or reinstate and do it later. I know personally I could never go through this a second time. It is too painful I might really do something crazy if I had that face it again instead of just thinking about it all the time. Hang in there and get it over with.
