Clarification about Temazepam liquid titration (have been reading old posts)

I've been reading all weekend on here - and trying not to get overwhelmed.....

 

Plan on visiting a compounding pharmacy on Monday.

 

I looked at many old posts about Temazepam liquid titration - some conflicting information...

 

From what I have gathered, it is sorta water soluble - milk may be better, but in order to mix a 30 mg capsule, a minimum of 164 ml's of liquid is necessary - so that means all the schedules I saw referring to a 100 ml container will not work. (?)

 

As many of these posts were years old, I'd like to know if a tapering schedule is still provided?  It looked like Builder and Colin did many of these.

 

I'm so grateful for the information and support....  and scared to start this - as I need to function daily and can't have symptoms totally take over my life (the Klonopin taper I just finished was pretty rough)

Temazepam has a water solubility of 164mg/L, or 1.64mg per ml. So you could easily and safely dissolve your 30mg capsule contents in 300ml of water.  You will then have a 1mg=10ml solution.

I had no problem making a very good suspension of 1mg/ml. and using that to taper. It isn't a solution, but the particles seem quite evenly distributed when stirred. I would just break open a capsule and give it a shot, see what you think. 

 

Compounding pharmacies can make you a great solution, but it is very expensive. Not bad if you have a long taper and can use the same solution though.

 

I was able to use a bit of the dose during the day to head off withdrawal symptoms. Good luck, I think you will do just fine!

It's water-soluble.  (see my link)  When you dissolve the powder in water, it becomes a solution, NOT a suspension.

 

Only a tiny percentage of the powder is actually temazepam, the rest is binders, fillers, and other inactive ingredients.  Some of those inactives will not dissolve and will settle out, but the temazepam will go into solution.

Do any of you know or where I can find a water titration schedule for my elderly mother who is currently on 3.75 mg (half of a 7.5mg capsule) of temazepam? I assume it is possible to start water titration from 3.75mg?

you might message "builder" he has helped with titration - persona;;y, I have gone to a compounding pharmacy and had them make a liquid out of the temazepam with a prescription from my doctor.  I didn't want to mix it myself and mess up!  They put it in almond oil.... I'm two weeks in on 30 mg - going 1 mg at a time - so it will take a while to get off of it.....
