Does everyone experience wd symptoms?

I started taking .5 Xanax back in March 2016 for anxiety/sleep and after about 2 weeks of my once per night dose, I decided to stop taking it because I didn't like the way I was feeling. Within the first 2 days I started to feel awful wd symptoms. I started to take it again, but instead of going back to .5 I took .25 and have been on that dose ever since. Since then, every day I feel terrible and not like myself. I have extreme fatigue, muscle aches and weakness, very bad tinnitus, shortness of breath, tingling, numbness, exhaustion, stomach issues, palpitations, and the list goes on. I have been to many doctors and specialists and medically I am ok so far, so I assume this is all from the once daily dose of Xanax? I'm trying to taper off now and am so afraid of everything I feel daily amplifying!

My mother on the other hand, takes it as well but has no problem stopping and starting whenever she needs to.. no wd at all.

Is this something that is individual to each person taking it? Some people :'( er lucky and don't experience problems with short term or occasional use?

I took klonopin on and off for about 6 months or so and never felt any WDs when i stopped (sometimes for about a month or so). It wasnt until i took them almost every day for 2 months and then tried stopping again that i suffered WDs.

I think there are a lot of variables that come into play here: age, how long you have been on the medication, the type of medication, dose, body chemistry, etc.

It's true we're all very different. Can't really know about how we will react until we do. I was kind of like your mom with Xanax. I took roughly 7 mg a day but if I forgot to take them or left them at home by mistake while I was away I didn't feel great but not awful. This made me believe my old doctor that they were harmless. They're NOT harmless. But then very suddenly bang. Dreadful sxs.  Could have been such long term use, menopause, empty nest issues. Who knows why. So stupidly I questioned my doctor who said no sweat take 8 mg. Talk about a red flag but I was beyond listening. The fact is you're having trouble so I'd stay with .25 then when you feel a bit better slowly taper it. Xanax is potent. Can be difficult for many. Lots of support here and you'll be taken seriously.
