Huge Waves of Anxiety

Hello everyone! I'm new on the forum, and as I have seen you people are amazing! Trying to get rid of it is something very brave. Ok, before asking my question, I would like to tell you a little bit of how I got into benzos, how it was, how it's being and how it affects my anxiety.

I'm 20 years old. My relations with Klonopin (2mg) began when...  I started to stole it from my father when I was 16-17)  :idiot:

So, I remember, in the first days it was the cure for that little anxiety that I believe that almost all of us have when we're teenagers. What happened is that Klonopin made my anxiety even worse! I started to get more and more dependant, there were days that I took 30mg at once, believe me! And I never made a "schedule" of when taking it. It was just "Oh, I'm feeling bad, I think I'll go with 6mg today!". But summing up, my doses were 4 to 8mg per day. This anxiety grew and grew! Now I'm taking 2mg per day and hoping that it doesn't affect my brain forever! I'm feeling very anxious (and depressed), I can't even get a job or go to college :( Will it last for a long time even when I stop taking it? This is my biggest concern.

I hope others with a lot more experience than I do chime in, but I think it would be wise to stabilize on your dose and then start to taper from there. Tapering slow will decrease the chance of having protracted symptoms. Have you been tapering from your average dose or did you choose 2mg arbitrarily?

Anxiety, unfortunately, can last a long time from WDs. I'm in month 5 and there hasn't been a day where I haven't had a lot of anxiety, but the good news is there days where it IS very low and I feel like my old self again. For others, anxiety wasn't a huge issue during their withdrawal. It depends on so many factors really. But given you were taking K to treat anxiety, it makes sense that you are feeling the rebound effect of increased anxiety.

I understand. I just choosed taking 2mg. Yes, I see it will take a lot of time to not get anxious again. It has been a little time but I also feel like my old self again! At least a little anxious (before I started to take Klonopin). Thank you!

I want to say don't worry about it everything will be OK but that is very hard to say. It affects each of us differently so it is hard to narrow down exactly how much anxiety you are going to have or for how long. The thing you have going for you is that you are so young. Just give it time and you will bounce back from it. I think your bad days will eventually turn into good days.

Thank you!

I see better days coming, but to see results you gotta be tough with yourself! Anyway, this is killing me... I'm having problems as diarrhea, confusion... It's being tough, I unfortunately took 6mg yesterday. But I'm not to give up.
