TINNITUS

[...]

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

for those of you who have (or had) tinnitus relating to withdrawing.. is it more likely to be a protracted symptom with longer term benzo use? or is it more to do with the withdrawal - ie does tapering too quick or cold turkey more a factor? i know there are exceptions to the rule but is there a consensus?

thanks :)

I hate to say it, but it will most likely be protracted. I developed Tinnitus for the first time after my first CT. Have had it close to two years now. I do believe it might be getting slightly better now, or possibly I am learning to deal with it better.  I feel your pain though, it is a truely horrible symptom.

I dont believe there is any correlation between how long you used benzos, but definitely a link between how fast you taper.

Hi 1996!  I tapered pretty slowly for the amount of Val I was on.  However, when I got below 2mg I noticed a host of symptoms, including tinnitus.  I do still have this issue, however, it comes and goes in spurts (a couple hours at a time perhaps).  Mine is not continuous and the intervals and length of tinnitus sessions is lessening (for me).  I am of the belief it will stop within a reasonable period of time and not be a lifelong thing.  Take care.

No offence intended, but if it is not continuous, I would not classify it as Tinnitus.
