Melatonin Gabapentin. Anyone use these?

My doctor wants me to try gabapentin to help with my withdrawal symptoms but I've read in some places that it does not help and is addictive. Also has melatonin helped anyone with sleep. I'm only getting a few hours a day.

Thanks for answers.

I use melatonin nightly with good success these days (I'm very nearly 3 years out); however, it didn't work at all for me when I was in withdrawal.

Gabapentin extended my sleep during withdrawal by an hour or two.  I usually took 300 mg only at night, so a fairly small dose.  I had no difficulty quitting it.  My sleep got worse when I stopped using it, but that's just because I'd lost the therapeutic benefit that the med was providing.  I felt a little different when on gabapentin.  A tiny bit spacey/relaxing.  A little euphoric.  That might bother some people (I kind of liked it).

I use melatonin and am tapering, it helps me get to sleep quickly, I sleep a couple hours straight some nights and 4-5 hours other nights and manage to do ok on that...can fall back to sleep easier most nights and read when I can't...less agitated...I lay down for an hour late afternoon and sometimes nap, but the rest helps one way or the other. I use liquid melatonin from puritans pride, easier to find a dose that agrees with me. Avoiding anything prescribed.

I have used both Melatonin and Gabapentin for years.  They have been helpful for sleep.  Gabapentin was helpful during my Lorazepam taper.  Just be aware that, over time, you may need more Melatonin to obtain the same result.  The same may be true for Gabapentin.  But if your main goal is to improve sleep while you're trying to get off of benzos, these substances can help.

Melatonin also helps me fall asleep (but not stay asleep) rather effectively. I used melatonin even before going on k and it was pretty effective then. Most night I dont have issues falling asleep. But staying asleep is different. Still 4-5 hours of sleep is so much better than 1-2.
