When does acute withdraw occur?

'Acute' is the period immediately after you take your last benzo, and it is typically when symptoms are at their most intense. Or so I have read many times here from mods who have been through it themselves and witnessed hundreds of others.

How severe the 'acute' phase is seems to depend on a multitude of factors, including how gradually you tapered down to 0 and how sensitive you are to WD. Some people say acute is typically around one month in duration.

Yeah, that seems to be the only real definition of "acute"...just the period after you finish your taper.

But just because there is an "acute" period does NOT mean there will necessarily be a period of increased sxs.  If you do a slow careful taper, and don't jump before you are ready, you will probably experience no increased sxs, or even any sxs at all.

I was symptomn-free for the last several months of my taper (actually, from 3mg on down) and had no further sxs once I was off.  Many folks have avoided any lingering sxs post-jump.

Its just one more thing to obsess about that probably won't happen.

It's easy to get fearful, but most people I have read about if they took it really slow are able to maintain function, and be ok. You may be a little under your 100% , but won't experience anything as severe as people who were forced to taper fast or Cold Turkey
