3 years off ativan milestone

Hey Buddies:

You all were there for me when I was struggling with the horrific ordeal of benzo wd and recovery, so I'd like to pop back in at my 3 year anniversary off, and tell you a few good things.

Life is GREAT!

Suffering as I did gave me an entirely new appreciation for life

Recovery took waaaaaaaaaay longer than expected. At 2 years off I was doing very well not not 100% recovered, but looking back, at 3 years off I have made significant improvements over 2 years off........tiny tiny imperceptible improvements in the short term, but looking back, I'm in a great place now

Mentally, emotionally, even physically, I am better now than I was BEFORE benzos (and stupidly, i thought i was in great shape b4 benzos). Skills and awareness I picked up through my benzo ordeal has greatly improved my life, my perceptions, my sense of contentment and joy.

Took a big fall and "scraping my knee" to realize that my gait in life was on shaky ground. Much better footing now.

Detrmination, perseverance, and an honest willingness to learn through our trial of fire is essential to emerge even better, even stronger.

You can too.

Thanks for your kind words folks.

Siggy, I said the same thing as you did when I tried to drink just a tiny amount of alcohol once I felt I was on good footing, only to have my sleep disintegrate immediately thereafter.

But having been through that situation several times now (AKA testing my alcohol sensitivity), I can say at least in my case, that sleep disintegration was temporary. Maybe by the time you read this, you will already be back on the right sleep track.

BTW, if anyone on this board told me at the onset of tapering that it would take me YEARS to recover, I would have called them insane, denied it, and gone into a permanent fetal position/state.

Hi LaserJet!!!!! How are you?!?!?! Congrats on the 3 years off! I'm so glad you're back to life!

Thank you for checking in with us and I'm with you where I'm doing a lot more and I'm way more emotionally and mentally stable than I was. I'm still dealing with my balance being off and feeling like I'm moving when I'm not that's the number one symptom that just won't break to save its life but I'm remaining prayerful. Many blessings to you and keep in touch.
