I started taking some to see if it will helps with mood. didn't notice much so far.

If yes, what brand/dose did you took? it seems to be more effective then antidepressants, according to some studies out there.

Was on them for about a year. Noticed some difference but not a huge amount. that was a long time ago though. Might be worth giving it a few months see how you feel. As for brands think they are all basically the same ingredients so don't think it makes all that much difference.

Also a fact to consider..."nutritional supplements" are not regulated and you never know from capsule to capsule how much if ANY St John's Wort you are taking.  Studies have proven that even some of the so called name brands cannot be counted on, and some even have harmful substances in them.

Please be careful and talk to your primary dr.

Good luck...

i would not try any neurotransmitter-supplement while on a benzo. benzos are like scorned mistresses. they will not share your brain with any substance for long except alcohol (alcohol too not for an indefinite period). i have had bad experiences with sam e twice because i was ordered to take it for my liver -- i had to discontinue after a month both times because it gave me depression.

it is no surprise that studies link treatment-resistant-depression to the chronic use of benzos -- ADs, eventually, stop working in benzo addled brains. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26241407

lastly, SSRIs are "selective." they impact only serotonin. supplements like st johns wort and sam e are not "selective" -- they can affect many neurotransmitters and it is just that we don't know or it has not been properly investigated.
