Hey! During acute I played a *lot* of 8-ball (app) and words with friends. Good luck! There's something to distracting to just keep you from ruminating too much.

I actually "googled" how to distract in early withdrawal. Distraction was literally my savior, but I had to learn to do it. The first thing it pulled up was cleaning your bathtub. So that is what I did over and over. My 1919 claw foot tub was always spotless. Over time I expanded past cleaning to memorizing things. :smitten: Today I recite every president in order...along with their VP!!! That took me days to learn and hours of distraction time! I

I put on music and lie down with a lavender pillow over my eyes. Or an ice pack if I'm having a crap headache.

Usually listen to jazz. I try to really concentrate on what the musicians are doing. What is the bass player doing? What is the sax player doing?

A friend suggested books on tape. I plan to give that a go.

I'm sorry you are feeling so badly, Reba.

Distraction ideas are pretty personal to each person. Coloring, puzzles, breathing, meditation, writing, watching mindless tv shows, going for a walk, cleaning part of the house....I am still working on distractions that don't take too much effort.  I've also found that going up on Benzobuddies and trying to help others helps....looking for positive affirmations online, etc., etc...

Watching old movies on TCM, older movies have slower plots, less violence, and steady camera work with long scenes - easy on the senses and the eyes.  Interacting with pets.  Arts, sewing, and crafts.  Spending time on sites like etsy and pinterest if you're an artistic or simply visual person.
