My Story

I had a few sleepless nights and told my Dr.  He immediately put me on 1mg of Xanax.  I was on it about 6 weeks and noticed that I was experiencing interdose withdrawal (didn't know it at the time).  I was afraid to get the mail, afraid to sit at the dinner table, watch a movie, etc.  I also felt like someone was trying to get into my head.  The doc then switched me to Temazepam and also added some K-pin.  I took that for about one month and took a total of 21 K pin.  I pitched the K pin and stayed on Temazepam for another 4 days.  Then CT'd everything as my doc said I would need to be on 2mg or more per day for over 6 months in order to have any issues or need to taper.  As soon as I quit the benzos I lost my ability to sleep.  I would go for days without any sleep and still do.  I miss at least 3 days per week.  I have had very few physical symptoms.  Ringing ears, sound sensitivity, clenching jaw and dental pain.  My biggest symptoms are anxiety and depression and extreme insomnia.

i had no idea taking this shit for 11 weeks would mess me up this bad or i never would have taken anything.  Just wondering what others think about my experience.  I have yet to have a day where I get over 3 hours of continuous sleep.  i get more sleep but it is alway broken sleep.  Was hoping for at least one day of 6-8 hours straight?  and I have never had back-to-back days of over 3 hours of sleep.  Is this normal, or am I some kind of freak.  This insomnia thing is killing me.

No you are most certainly NOT a freak. This is very, very normal for anyone coming off Benzos, specially if you had insomnia before, as WD can bring pre existing issues back to the forefront. I had bad insomnia to begin with, now I can't stay awake. That's just as bad, one extreme to the other. Like Ashton says, Benzos help the very people they are supposed to help, the least. I'm sorry you are going through this, you are not alone.

How did you get your sleep back?  That is my worst symptom.

I wish I knew. At the beginning of this month I got hit by malaise and lethargy. I can hardly move. These two make doing most tasks that involve any kind of physical activity, totally impossible. I seem to be in the 'morphing sxs' phase now. These two nasties have countered my insomnia, but I wouldn't recommend them  >:(
