Klonopin withdrawal

New to this forum.  I have been on Klonopin for 6 yrs, 1 mg  daily. I chose to withdraw with dr supervision. I have been withdrawing for 2 months and last dose was 7 days ago. My taper was every 1-2 weeks (closer to 1 week) by cutting the dose in half then discontinue. The last few weeks I stopped am dose (. 25 mg) and the next week stopped pm dose (.25 mg) since the very onset of tapering I have had constant brain problems (dizziness, brain fog, derealization, spacey, headache, numbing, head vibrations).  Just yesterday I couldn't take it and decided to go back to .25 daily. I think I may have tapered too quickly. I am wondering about thoughts from anyone about going back to my original dose to stabilize  my symptoms. Is it too late to reinstate and get relief? Also, how long would it take for my brain to adjust to being back on Klonopin? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you!

Welcome to the forum!  We're glad to have you as a new member.  You did do a fast taper, with 50% reductions.  However, going back to your original dose is iffy, and doesn't guarantee you won't have these symptoms even if you taper more slowly.  It's an individual decision, and I probably wouldn't do it unless I was suffering very severe symptoms.

You'll find plenty of information and support here.  Our members have gone through all aspects of withdrawal, and you're likely to see  people who understand what you're going through and can tell you what has worked for them.  For those who are currently tapering, we suggest reducing no faster than 5-10% every 10-14 days, and some taper even slower than that. One exception: very short-term users of a few weeks or less may be able to taper faster than that.  Having some withdrawal symptoms is normal, especially near the end of a taper and for a month or so after discontinuing the medication.  The most common symptoms are anxiety and insomnia, but these are temporary and will go away in time.

The Ashton Manual is an authoritative source on what to expect in withdrawal and recovery.  Dr. Ashton is an expert in the field.  She describes and explains withdrawal symptoms in Chapter III, and there is also a section with withdrawal/taper schedules.
