Wondering how many of us here had to quit / lose their job

[...]

I'm wondering if most people on this site are "working outside the home" -- eg have "a job".

How many of us had to quit their job; lost their job; just are unable to work because of their decision to go off psych meds (benzos, ADs, etc)?

So far, knock on wood, I've been able to continue working throughout this whole hellish ordeal. (I did miss my first day of work on Tuesday, when i ended up in the ER...)

Luckily, I'm at my desk most of the day, working on a computer, and haven't had any meetings or presentations recently, which would most certainly cause me a GREAT deal of distress. I do try and avoid making direct eye contact with people, however, as my eyes are BLOOD RED and it's embarrassing.

Me - I am currently on a medical leave from work that has lasted about 8 weeks, will run out soon, and I don't feel anywhere near well enough to go back. I might have to quit.

I've been on a leave of absence since March, luckily diagnosed with PTSD so I'm out for that and doing this at the same time. I'm retiring from full time law enforcement in September 2017 and once cleared will go back part time. There's no way I'd be able to work my job through this.

I was lucky. I called my company of 30 years on a Friday and told them I had to go on disability. Then on Monday they folded my magazine. So the other employees got s*** while I got five full years of paid salary. Timing is everything so they say...... ;)

benzogirl: i looked into disability as an option (don't think will need it now), but they only pay up to 2 years for mental issues (3months short + 2 years long exactly)

5 years seems like a really good insurance

and to the topic; I worked entire w/d process and it wasn't really a problem. i'm still of post-jump a month ago, but plan to start work next week. I think work is good for recovery - if you can handle it

I'm in disability. Want to work again but can't handle sounds, a lot of people etc. Can't even talk due to the pressure in my ribcage (muscles are cramped up ).

Not working. Need to change job to. I am a nurse and I can't handle stress and have my full attention again. And on top of this I got PTSD after a accident in march that almost killed me so I can't see people who are really sick or dying. I panic. It is such a trauma and hospital trigger my PTSD. Have not work for over a year. First my depression severe one and then the accident. I don't know what to do. Change job that's for sure but what?

I work and really need to change jobs and totally stressed by that thought. But where I am is totally crazy and making me sick.

My biggest fear with all of this is becoming too sick to work. My oldest is starting college next year--I need to stay employed.

Glad you are able to work, locutus. I am still on disability cause my memory is shot and have some bad cog fog but then again it's far better compared with the 10 mg of K I was on. My disability is for life if I want it to but I don't want to be on the payroll of taxpayers and I'm well enough to write a book. 👍🏿
