Sorry to create a new topic but no one has responded since my last post.

I flew up to Washington to see my mom/sister's doctor who is a family practitioner.  He finally, out of all the doctors I saw in the ER, the psych hospital(I had a psychotic break after CT 8mg per day klonopin- PLEASE NEVER DO THIS- this was the worst nightmare of my life).  He prescribed me 2mg klonopin to be taken in two doses with 300 mg gabapentin each time.

I've been feeling fairly normal, a little restless leg syndrome at night.  Anyone have any help for this?  I am currently sleeping about 5-6 hours a night after taking the klonopin and gabapentin all at the same time.  I feel a little restless during the day but at the same time, I can't seem to get up enough energy to do much at all.

My thought processes seem a little slow but no where near like the fog I was in when I wasn't taking any klonopin at all.  Any home remedies for this?  I read passionflower tea might be helpful.

I am going to the store today so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

I am sleeping on my parents couch which doesn't help a ton but I need to stay here to see this doctor until at least Friday and get a plan going from there.

How long does the gabapentin stay in my system, I feel like it is contributing to the fog and the lack of energy which is why I've been taking it at night to sleep.  Any replies, support, suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I know going from 8mg to 2mg is huge, but I did cold turkey and had like a good one to two weeks off(sorry my sense of time is really screwed up right now) the klonopin so starting back at two milligrams may be okay.

Thank you all :smitten:

Gabapentin gave me awful side effects including brain fog. It will go eventually just be patient.  I am struggling with diazapam and zopiclone withdrawal without much success and have had awful side effects because I have become tolerant  to them.I'm not an expert but there are lots of people out their which are going through the same as you so you are not alone

Hey pal!

I know what its like to be ripped off such a high dose of benzodiazepines. That happened to me at a detox facility (stupid me) and I was taken off 13 mg of the evil K and also 40 mg of Paxil. What a horrid nightmare. Thus I am here. You may want to research such things like Passion flower as well as Valerian root as I believe they are cross tolerant to benzos. I know they help with w/d but I have a great pdoc and he says  :nono: :nono:  to both.

Good luck and I hope you get stable soon.👍🏿

I didnt like gabapentin either. It actually increased hot flashes. I need to change my sig, but I no longer take that. I use remeron here and there for sleep and l-tryptophan for sleep. For daytime anxiety I exercise, mostly swimming

Any thoughts on dosing?  I see the doc tomorrow and right now I feel like taking the gabapentin and 2mg klonopin at night is best.  His instructions were to take it in two divided doses but it just made me feel worse and have a hard time sleeping at night.

Hi Doubleshot!

I hope your name isn't telling about your drinking habits.

I think I would be able to help you better if you create a signature. I know my gaba helped me with sleep and I had no s/x from it, but my Klonopin kept me awake at night. It's supposed to be a knock out drug, but after a while it had the opposite effect on me. The lower I got in my dose the better I felt. Then I was just on Valium and boy did I sleep!

LOL- Doubleshot refers to my coffee habit- I didn't even think of the alcohol reference!  I do not drink at all, can't stand the stuff and how it makes me feel- plus everyone in my family is an alcoholic so I have avoided alcohol like the plague.

I was scripted the Klonopin after having sleep issues following chemotherapy that I think fried my hypothalamus.  Luckily I am 4 years out an no recurrent cancerous lesions in my stomach.

Instead, I have been left with a giant gorilla on my back that was a prescription med.  I just kept needing more and more to sleep.  My doctor was a oncologist/hematologist and happy to prescribe anything.  I had to wean myself off opiates, as well- but that was a couple of sweaty, shitty days in bed and I was fine.  This is like hell.

I've been staying up as late as I can and then taking my meds so I can hopefully get to sleep.

Last night I think I made a little breakthrough by listening to a book on tape rather than falling asleep watching tv.  Yes, I know all about sleep hygiene and all that but I go nuts with obsessive thoughts laying in the dark tossing and turning and usually if I watch something I eventually get tired and drift off.

Sorry my signature is a jumble- I will fix it up once I get a plan in place.  I am going to the doctor today who prescribed 2mg klonopin and 600 gabapentin.  I am having restless legs and my skin is crawling but at least I am not cognitively impaired quite so much anymore.

Should I ask for an increased dose to start my taper or ask to cross over to valium?  I really want off this shit like nothing you can imagine but I need to do it in a way I can still function.

Any words of wisdom I can take to the doc with me?

Well I can't offer medical advice but it seems to me you take your combined doses together if it were me I would try and take them separately as see which one is the culprit. I know I dosed my K and my gabapentin at the same time and had no trouble. But everyone is different here so who knows? Anyway if you know more information before you see your doc the better he can help you. I wish you all the luck out there. ❤️

I never crossed over to valium, no need because klonopin is long acting

BTW I cant sleep without TV either, I hear some of this sleep hygiene stuff and its crazy, like never watch TV in your room, right, wth a hubby, 2 kids and 2 dogs, what should I get a hotel room?

But I do shut it off the first of my many wakings
