Tinnitus is even worse

Just when I don't think the ringing can't get any worse it does. It's 1:24AM and I just woke up. I'm doing a hold at .75MGs daily of Klonopin. I would like to finish my taper but I'm afraid of this getting louder if that is even possible. It started about 17 months ago and has gotten progressively worse. I've tried EVERYTHING. I saw an ENT doctor last week and got the learn to live it response. I don't know what to do. Holding doesn't seem to help. I get panic attacks. It gets so loud I get sick to my stomach  I'm at the end of my rope with this.

I read on Google where a study showed that severe tinnitus can be caused by the brain not producing enough benzodiazepine.

I wish I didn't read that.

I have tinnitus too but for me it is like a loud electric buzz all the time. It started when I was start with Valium. You know, w/d tend to rebound symptoms more aggressive and your body and brain is learning to be without the benzo. Read Ashton manual about tinnitus. My tinnitus is more intense and bad at the moment. I hold now too. But I have had a few times when a loud bang is in my head and after that my tinnitus was gone for a few hours.

Mine is worse now too, but in the past when I used less oxa a day and then stopped for a couple of days it always became softer. I guess it's the w/d that makes it worse, hope it will soften soon for you .

It's been over a year now and with it just keeps getting louder. I'm losing hope that it will improve. Some days I can't even function. I was on 8MGs of Xanax daily. I mentioned this before that last February I was in a mental health ward. I had tapered down to 5.5MGs daily of Xanax. The doctor in charge switched me over to 6MGs daily of Klonopin and forced me to taper off it in only 12 days.  On the 12th day I collapsed and was brought over to the medical building where they gave me a shot of Adivan and put me on 3MGs daily of Klonopin. Even a 3MG drop in 12 days would have been too much. Then I re-started my taper down to .75MGs daily of Klonopin. I read about Post Benzo Withdrawal Syndrome and how the symptoms can last two years or more. And if it was someone on a large dose for a long time it may never go away. I was on the 8MGs of Xanax for nine years. And 4MGs daily for ten years before that. So I was on a heavy dose for 20 years.  I don't think I really ever recovered from the rapid taper. I can still get so angry that someone did that to me. I'm in rough shape.

Oh. I was in the hospital a few weeks ago for depression and panic attacks and the first thing the doctor wanted to do was to force me off the .75MGs daily of Klonopin. What the f**k is wrong with these people?

I'm so sorry to hear that. I sympathise with you. I really don't know what to say except I do hope it will get better for you. Doctors don't seem to understand the effects of use and withdrawl of benzo's.  Seeing so many suffering from this it surprises me that they don't know any better by now.

I know that life is going to throw stuff at all of us, tapering off of benzos or not, that's going to be rough. And sometimes push us to our limits. I've been there. Before I started benzos. But this has been just a continuous 17 month shit storm. Sometimes I think I'd trade this for a terminal illness. At least I'd know that there was an end in sight.

I can understand why you would say that. But I've treated terminal patients till the end and believe me, that as well is an inhumane fight. You must be very deep at this moment. Don't forget; the more attention you give the ringing, and the more you let it take over you, the harder it gets. I know how hard it can be especially in the silent nights. Take care m8
