Hello, I'm a beginning Lunesta taperer

Hello everyone, I'm glad to have found Benzobuddies. I'm looking for guidance in my taper.

I'll put more info in a later post, but have been taking Klonopin and Lunesta since late November 2016, in addition to Cymbalta and Belsomra.

My present dose of Klonopin is 1.5mg, Lunesta 3mg.

I finally found a doctor willing to guide my taper, and am starting my Lunesta taper today at 2.25mg.

The hope is that the short period of time I've been on the drug and the short half-life of Lunesta will enable a faster than normal taper, but I recognize it's faster than the recommendations on this site, and will go back to 3mg and start slower if the symptoms prove to be too much.

What I wonder about is how much is too much? If I get zero sleep for one night, should I revert my dose immediately? Or can I try sticking it out for a few more days?

Hi  :) Welcome to BenzoBuddies!

I am glad you found us today. The recommended reduction rate is 5 to 10 percent every two weeks. However, you may be able to go quicker since you have been on them for only a month. Generally though it is more difficult to taper short acting than long acting. Insomnia unfortunately is one of the most common symptoms. I would stick some sleepless out.

Other medications This is the board for medications other than benzodiazepines. This would be the place to post about Lunesta.
