I need Help!

I am currently tapering .125 xanax and am on temazepam. I am in tolerance withdrawals and suffering. Today I'm angry for the drug situation I'm in. The hole got deeper when I listened to the Drs. I was having withdrawals from taking the .125 xanax but I didn't take it every night so I thought I was ok. I didn't realize all of the symptoms were from the drug. In June I didn't take it and couldn't sleep for 4 nights not realizing I was dependent. So what happens I go on Temazepam adding fuel to the fire. Even with that I hadn't realized my decline was from the original xanax. Of course the Dr said it wasn't the xanax. I didn't take xanax for the first three months on the temazepam, but started randomly with the doctors advice. I'm now trying to taper from .125 with tolerance withdrawals. What a mess!! If I only Knew. I'm considering switching to valium, but I know that has its own issues. I don't know what to do. any help is appreciated.

Summer,

Sorry your going through this rough confusing time. Very frustrating to say the least in not knowing which way to turn. Are you sure your having tolerance WD, and not interdose WD's?

X has such a very short half life and the Temazepam really is not much better. Not sure why the Dr would use that........is this more for sleep, as the T is a Hypnotic.

Good gosh, Summer, what a situation!!!  More info is needed like how much Tem exactly you are now taking and exactly how much xanax you are now taking and exactly how long at that dose for both the Tem and Xan before anybody with a similar situation can tell you what worked for them...of course none of us can legally tell you exactly what to do..but we can share what worked for us.

Navita65 asked some important questions...and I, too, am sorry you are going through this.

You posted just as I was, too!!!

Best wishes....

From my experience with temazepam, I know it has strong interdose withdrawal symptoms, came on super quickly for me. You might consider holding back a bit of the temazepam (say about 5 mg?) for the morning, to help smooth things out a bit. I think crossing over to Valium might be a really good idea in your case, as your blood levels have got to be all over the place from these drugs! The only drawback would be that Valium is not a sleep drug, so it won't put you out like temazepam.

Choco, you are a needed inspiration to me. I'm having a hard day, and i don't know if I can do this.

You can.  This is hard, but you can do it.  Holding back a little temazepam to take during the day may help, as meowie suggested trying.  A large dose of benzo at night and a much smaller one during the day are likely to be making this rougher.  It may mean you don't sleep as well but in benzo tapering that's likely to begin to be an issue the lower you go anyway.

Yes, I like what Meowie and Challis said, especially if you are worried about crossing over to V...and that way you can wait a few days before VERY slowly starting a reducing plan.  As they said, I think it is of major import to get a blood level established.

You will make it, stay safe and keep posting.

I would stick to the Temazepam, personally.

When I was at .125mg of Xanax, I was taking it in two daily doses of .0625mg.  I dropped one dose, leaving me with .0625mg once a day.  After three days, I dropped the last dose and was done with the Xanax.

Per your PM, I think you might be able to do that…you're still on a fair amount of Temazepam and I think that may cover the Xanax.  I did it the opposite… I was taking Temazepam (for sleep) when my doctor added Xanax (for trauma).  After being on both for a short period of time, I dropped the Temazepam cold turkey…didn't know better…but the Xanax must have covered the Temazepam because I don't remember feeling any withdrawal.

I hope that helps.

Challis

Thanks for your reply. I'm so sad right now, ignorance is not bliss when it comes to this deadly drug. I originally could have been done with xanax months ago. I think I probably have kindled too. I tried to go without the xanax dose today and it was brutal. I'm at 10% under .125. I have to come to terms with this but it is hard right now.
