I'm 6 months out of a cold t. Still feels like I just got off with no improvement really. I'm paranoid, have a intense fight or flight thing going on, I have intrusive thoughts, bad insomnia, very very anxious, scared, feel terror... upset. What can I do for the intense fight or flight and insomnia? I'm asking you all because you are more experienced than me... especially if u have been dealing with this for years. I'm only 6 months and terrified. Didn't take a single rescue dose or anything...

Prolove,

I'm so sorry to hear that you're feeling so bad.

I hate the chemically enhanced terror!

Everything that you are experiencing is normal for withdrawal.  Especially the fight or flight.

I had to go off caffeine, and that helped.  I also take a very small does of trazodone for sleep.  It helps.

Hi Prolove, The only way to get around the irrational fear that that we experience is to push the thoughts out of our minds. This paranoia is intrusive thoughts and anxiety caused by WD. I am at 13 months right now when I was at your stage I was the same and now it has not gone away, it still shows up everyday, which made the holidays pretty stressful. Try to take care of yourself you have to do it day by day and hour by hour.

I had this for about the first 1.5 years. The only advice I have is to just accept it. You are not going crazy so remind yourself of that. When it gets too overwhelming just rest. And on your better days try and enjoy the things you love. It will go away.

This is a horrible feeling, I had this every day for a very long time. All I can say is hang on in there, my advice is to watch what you're eating very very carefully. As it matters alot in terms of anxiety and insomnia. Get your hands on some suppliments, like l- theanine and vitamin B6/B12. They really helped me through the worst of it all. This will all be gone with time buddy, don't worry. Just stay focused on the matter at hand, healing.
