Hello!

I am a person who has been dealing with severe anxiety for years. We've tried all kinds of meds, nothing has much helped. Last year, I had a major breakdown this got to a point where I found myself outside my home, pacing---calling people telling them I was dying, up multiple days on end, not eating, missing all kinds of work, and almost had to stop working entirely.  I began taking Klonopin, .5 PRN  (up to 1mg a day). I have taken very sparingly (about 15 .5 pills in a span of 2 or 3 months ) until recently when I felt myself slipping again and was trying so bad to fight it so I can keep my job and function. I am taking it now almost every evening (.25-1mg depending on how well I can calm myself). When I don't take it I notice these awful headaches and so I've started magnesium supplements to  combat that. I am also trying to take it less (I do not feel ready to stop at this point). I hate anxiety. I appreciate what Klonopin does for me but I hate the idea of withdrawal symptoms. I have anger that there is not some more effective med for me.  I am just looking for some extra support. As far as feedback, anything helps. Thanks!

Hi  :) Welcome to BenzoBuddies!

I am glad you found us today. You will want to find the lowest daily dose that you feel stable on and begin your taper from there. The recommended reduction rate is 5 to 10 percent every two weeks. Anxiety unfortunately is a fairly common symptom.

You might like to check out The Ashton Manual it is an authoritative source on what to expect in withdrawal and recovery.  Dr. Ashton is an expert in the field.

Please feel free to post to any of the dedicated boards, we have a wonderful community of people here, who will give sound advice. Members have been through all aspects of benzodiazepine use and withdrawal and are more than willing to share their experiences.

Again Welcome!  :smitten:

Hi, AnonymousGirl.

It's so ironic; the anxiety makes us sick, we take medicine, IT makes us sick(er) and then the docs just shake their heads.

You'll get real people who get it here. Hang in until you find some!

Take care and Happy New Year...the year of your healing and feeling better than ever!!!

Love,

ZTGirl
