It's not a smooth ride

I finished my taper from benzos 2016 Dec 16. It was not smooth as I didn't know about The Ashton Manual.

 

I was first prescribed Klonopin in 2006 by a psychiatrist at my university in graduate school. I took  benzos for ten years without fully realizing their impact, what issues they were exasperating, what scope of new issues they were creating, but I did know how and where they were helping me--the vicious cycle.

 

I'm most experienced with Klonopin, but I've also been prescribed Ativan, Librium, and Xanax. Lunesta and Ambien. I have a long history with psychiatric medications other than benzos or hypnotics: anti-convulsants, neuroleptics, and anti-depressants.

Congrats on being benzodiazepine free. If you just finished your taper on December 16th you are still in the acute phase of withdrawal. This phase typically lasts about a month with marked improvement felt after.

 

You might like to check out The Ashton Manual it is an authoritative source on what to expect in withdrawal and recovery.  Dr. Ashton is an expert in the field.
