Merry Christmas fellow non-sleepyheads! If you are awake you might as well try to catch Santa in the act. Make sure your phone is charged and submit any photos you are able to take.

Merry Christmas!  I hope I get a few hours of sleep. Lol.  Happy New Year! Time to make that New Years Resolution.  I know what my goals are.

Santa was here early; dropped off a load of coal for me. Pretty big load, too.

A huge load of coal is exactly what I got too - and worst of all, it's the non-drowsy formula!  >:(

Merry Christmas to all. Maybe Santa will bring us all new baby GABA receptors that are super upregulated and lots of sweet, deep, sleep. I want to believe!!!

Me too Sigg.  Really bad day today.  I think the fear of insomnia gets me.  I feel like I've been ill my whole life, too - which doesn't help.  Hope we can just shut things off and let go.  WBB

Sorry wanna, it does suck a lot doesn't it? I was doing great until I drank. I really miss the sleep pattern I had up until this fiasco.

I get to hear everyone else in the house sleeping and snoring.

Siggy,

I just got home and was checking the site when your message popped up. Sorry to hear that you are still awake. I guess that you are used to it, but that doesn't make it any easier, especially when you had been doing so good. Sleep will return back to your new baseline soon. Merry Christmas anyway.

Wanabebetter,

Wishing the same to you and sorry to hear about your bad night. I am a few hours behind you folks so I can only hope that my night will be good when I soon go to bed. Have a cold and took a double dose of Benadryl so sleep seems probable. It was pretty good last night.s

Thanks aloha. This crap never gets easier. I really do hope it passes for me soon. What's weird is that I sleep hard in the second night, but just can't fall asleep at all the next. Makes no sense to me.

Sorry you have a cold. Get some rest.

Merry Christmas everyone!

I had a broken up night of sleep last night too ~ the pattern has been changing lately...Now my sleep window comes super early and I sorta have to be on a sofa for some reason, so I let myself close my eyes and rest. here at my parents' house for Christmas, the 8pm sleepiness hit and I slept lightly on the sofa for 1.5 hours until my dad came home and was making a lot of noise and loudly talking. So I migrated up to the bed, where I did fall asleep after a little while but now my husband can't sleep (he has had insomnia since we got here..past few days) and so at 1:30am his stirring woke me and I was wide awake...finally at 3 I convinced him to leave the bedroom with me and we went downstairs where I started eating some Christmas cookies  and of course he promptly fell asleep on the other sofa. I followed suit until my dad came downstairs at 6am, at which point we went back upstairs and I forced myself up at 7:30am. Letting my husband sleep more (it's after 9am here now). How nice would it be to sleep through an entire night without waking at all!?!? At least we know we are not alone!

Merry Christmas!  Santa brought me a little more sleep than usual.  Might have gotten 5-6 hours of somewhat broken sleep (woke up twice, but got back to sleep each time).  That's pretty good for me.

I can't recall if I saw Santa during one of those wakeful times, but the egg nog and cookies (left for Santa) were gone.  So he must have been here.

You guys are so funny!

I've been having lots of weird broken sleep again. And now my husband is having trouble sleeping which is odd. But the good news is, I'm getting enough that I feel normal and want to do things the next day and I'm thinking about it less, which is good I think.

I much prefer the waking up 5x a night in between periods of sleep to the can't sleep all night until 4am and feel crushed nights!

Hiya teal! Yes, even my wife, the professional sleeper, occassionaly has some issues. She can take a two hour nap in the middle of the day and still go straight to sleep for 8 hours at night.

Glad you're feeling better! I agree about the falling asleep part. It drives me the craziest. I'd also rather sleep 4 hours every night than 8 every other night. Right now I'm in that cycle. Hoping it breaks soon for me.

Hi Siggy,

Oh man, I was doing that sleep 8 hours every other night thing about a month ago. It was so frustrating! It eventually sorta shifted, and now I'm still sleeping okay on some nights and not so good on others. I feel like we both are on the right track though, things are slowly getting better. The hardest part is being around family/friends during the holidays who do not understand.

I got about 4 hours, which is typical amount before busy days.  Every year I need to host a Christmas party and I always don't sleep too well.  Oh well, I survived Christmas day at least and the feast was appreciated.  Santa brought me a few things on my wishlist so that's good, too.

Glad it finally broke for you. I'm waiting for that to happen. I guess the every other night thing is more predictable, but it makes me feel a lot crappier.

There are lots of cool things about Christmas but I also feel relieved to have some routine returning-I have my house back, no more special cooking or events, less to do, etc. so all of this takes some of the pressure off about not sleeping. Not sleeping is bad enough but try to act normal and push through lots of activity adds to it. Maybe 2017 will be the year that sleep normalizes for all of us.
