Does anyone here suffer from something so bizarre, that its hard to explain in words what it feels like and that you think you may be the only one dealing with it?

I have so many symptoms- I have probably had 95% of the symptoms mentioned here, at least at one point in recovery.  I have asked a million times about my worst symptoms and have heard back from 3 dear bb friends who can identify with me in one way or another.  But there's one thing I have that nobody has ever said, " omg! I had THAT too."  And it's this (I will try to explain, the best I can):

As soon as I drop off for sleep, I'm woken by various types of Hypnic jerks/adrenaline surges/etc (most people already know this)...But one in particular feels like someone just snapped or flicked a muscle inside of me really hard (could be anywhere in my body, but usually in an arm somewhere) and at the exact moment I feel it, I also hear a thump or a bump sound in my head.  The sound is very similar to putting your ear on the mattress and hitting the mattress with your hand (a muffled bump sound).  What the hell is this that wakes me all of the time??

The electric shocks and spasms are the worst, but let me tell you, this particular symptom drives me mad as it feels too creepy to be experiencing and nobody else on this planet seems to have it!

Ok, it's been a very difficult few days. After 14 months, it gets harder and harder to cope with these symptoms- especially the most odd ones.  Anyone else need to vent your strange thing you feel so alone with???

My vision is so flat/2D that my brain and eyes feel weird when they try to process 3D images or videos.

I get the spasms and adrenaline surges when trying to sleep, actually it feel like i always have it, like my body wants to tense up and scream, like my nerves are burning.

my weirdest one i haven't heard anyone having, i feel like a parasite is moving around, i feel it in my back, then in my neck, then in my head, it moves a lot. i really dont think it's benzo related and it's freaking my out.

Weishup-

I can say I've never had that.  Hopefully it doesn't bother you too much.  Vision wise, I get blurriness and burning eyes, but I'm assuming that sleep loss causes it for me.

Yes!  I've had this.  Mine only happens when laying down.  It was much worse during acute, but I still have it on occasion.  It feels like a large worm slowly wriggling around in my side or over my hip bone.  I know its a muscle doing weird things, but it does feel like a parasite as you say.  Btw, this is not the same as muscle tremors or other muscle spasms!  I have all of those too and this feels much different.  Well, like a worm  ???

Your signature confused me... Were you healed after one year off and then restarted again?  Were you having the jolts all that time?

Yes my story is weird, i was off of this stupid shit for exactly 1 year, i was feeling good too i figured all my symptoms were candida(pressure in head, stomach pain, fatigue). but i had no anxiety, and was able to sleep a lot. I was exercising, work, school, i was happy. THIS WAS 3 WEEKS AGO, that's why i'm thinking maybe this isn't valium and maybe it's something else very bad. but i think even though i was off valium, i was still getting alcohol because i had candida, and they call candida auto brewery syndrome cause it creates it's own alcohol. so i was basically getting small bits of alcohol and didnt need the valium anymore. 2 weeks ago i drank a lot of alcohol, and was treating the candida heavily. got bad panic attack. took 5mg valium, and intermittently took 5-10mg doses for a couple weeks. my last dose was 10mg 3 days ago.

It feels like my nerves are burning, i want to cry. i am in  constant state of panic. i haven't been to work in over a week. i'm really scared, i don't remember feeling like this when tapering. maybe cause the candida gave me such bad brain fog.

I just don't know if i have to do another taper, or if i just c/t from this and see what happens, so fuckin confused.

If I read that correctly, it looks like you were fine, but started getting candida type symptoms 3 weeks ago and fell into panic so you started Valium within the last 2 weeks and now trying to figure out if you need to taper or quit ct.  Hmmm.  If your symptoms are from candida, I would get it under control with the help of a naturopath.  Going back on Valium for such a short period of time may not warrant a taper.  Idk.  I hate to give such advice, but I'm also one who is very skeptical of tapers in certain situations.  In my own personal case, I should have stayed off the crap when I ct it the first time.  The symptoms were so much better compared to when I reinstated, tapered, and got completely off for good 4 months later.  I'm extremely paradoxical to these meds as I reacted within days of taking them.  I think for people like me, tapers are just prolonging and possibly worsening a terrible situation.

Appreciate it, ya i honestly have no idea what to do right now. I'm just sitting in my house feels like my nerves are burning and I have constant anxiety. My doctor is ordering tests but I still gotta wait a week for results. Sucks. I hate this shit.

Sounds like you have the hypnic Jerks and insomnia too. so maybe this is a bEnzo thing. I would hate to reinstate and do another taper. especially cause I don't think the valium works for me anymore. I'm Im just worried my last dose was too high or 2 weeks was too much and I fucked myself. Ughhh

Nothing helps your hypnic jerks or insomnia? That scares me, especially cause you been off a while

My weirdest symptom that is not getting better is my constant desire to eat. Even if my stomach doesn't feel hungry I want to eat. I have to tell myself "you're not hungry", which is true but if don't I'll just eat unchecked amounts of food. Plus I think about food and eating most of the day.

Don't compare to me... I'm seriously one of maybe only 3 people here who has had such severe Hypnic jerks for so long.  Others have had them for a long time too, but nowhere near as bad as mine. The majority lose this symptom within a few months.  The key is to stay off benzos forever and avoid other stuff as much as possible.  I currently suffer with many scary symptoms, but the jerks are the worst for me.

Is it making you heavy?  If not, is your food running right through you (diarea)?  Maybe your body is having a hard time processing nutrients and you are craving to make up for the loss.  Just a wild guess.

I've lost so much weight throughout this mess and I eat a healthy, normal diet every day.  Stress and no sleep is making me look anorexic.

Yes, I have a symptom that is driving me absolutely insane. Apparently related to withdrawal from 35 years of a tricyclic. I have unrelenting dental pain, even after tons of procedures, and the dentist finally agreed the other day it is probably neuropathic pain. I have an appointment at a teaching college a couple of hours away, in about a week. Hopefully they can get to the bottom of this.

I know this exists (Atypical Odontalgia) because I've googled the heck out of it. But I haven't found anyone else who has experienced it. And certainly not as a withdrawal effect.

The need to eat first thing in the morning,  and at least 7 times throughout the day. I'm constantly hungry and nothing is filling. I'm eating healthy and drinking protein everyday.  If I don't eat I get weak and feel like I will faint. I'm thinking it's low blood pressure. I hate it!

I worked 14 years as a dental assistant and never in all my years saw someone with a case of geographic tongue even 1/4 as bad as mine is now.  Its horrendous.  The chronic teeth pain without a known reason is so unusual.  I saw it a few times, but is was always isolated to one area in the mouth.  I hope they figure something out for you.

I had the parasite feeling as well. It moved from my right side down to my left side and them moved up to my brain. In my brain it felt like it was moving it around. When I had this feeling in my brain I had the worst brain fog ever. Like the parasite was eating away my brain. I only had it when lying in my bed with my head on the pillow.

The most weird symptoms were the bell ringing sounds and voices during the night, and the paranoid thoughts that made me think everything was connected with me, made me think everything was a conspiracy, and made me see patterns in everything that made 100% sense during that time. I was becoming hyper creative in a bad way that it caused a full blown psychosis. Too much glutamate will cause that.

I had a psychotic episode 20 months after a Xanax cold turkey. I was in the hospital and started hearing two voices arguing with each other about whether or not I would "do it" or not. Maybe it was real idk

My wierd lingering symptom is emotional numbness.  :(

Hey offevery-

Strange!  I've only had episodes of visual or auditory hallucinations.  The auditory ones were the most problematic as I would hear talk radio, spooky sounds, sirens and other sounds while trying to sleep.  I swear, my body has tried every imaginable thing to keep me awake!  I even woke up one morning and was laying there with my eyes open when I felt the bed drop with a Big bang sound coming from outside of the room.  I thought we had an earthquake or that there was some sort of explosion in the basement.  I got up and asked my family if they felt it.  Nope.  All in my head.  That only happened once and I will never tell a doctor because even that is too absurd to believe.  Surely I dreamt it  (but I know I didnt!).

I've gained 15 lbs and it is awful! I'm bulging out of my clothes and have never been this heavy. It's depressing.

I have that too and my taste buds are different. Things I used to love don't sound appetizing and I crave things that I didn't eat much of before. Then I went through a phase where everything I tasted didn't taste good.

I'm so sick of being a fat, bloated slob  :o

This is a list of my weird symptoms, outside of my normal waves of pain, bloat, weight gain, ringing ears, tingling limbs.

I had a root canal for a phantom intense tooth pain. They drilled and drilled to kill the root, and because of this mess I can't afford to have it finished. And.... The pain comes and goes. In fact it moves to other teeth sometimes and then vanishes. Sigh

Another is the feeling of bugs in my hair. Drives me crazy.

Another, I have occasional symptoms that feel like a urinary tract infection, which also vanishes and then comes back.

Today I woke up with the awful headache. The muscle contacted in the back of my neck and literally felt like a nail driven up the back and over to my eye. Magically disappeared a few hours later.
