Withdrawal advice sought. Can't taper when symptomatic

Help, please.

I've been stuck for months at .375 Ativan, 1.5 ml valium, with ever increasing symptoms, which I recognize now as tolerance/withdrawal (brain fog, anxiety, insomnia, the works).  My doctor tried Buspar, a little tiny bit of Paxil, and very small dose Zoloft, believing my symptoms to be attributable to reactions to these.  I'm going downhill, can't get by without help.

I've wanted to start  a crossover to valium and taper, but when I spoke with a doctor and director at a highly regarded anxiety clinic I was told it was NOt advisable to try to taper while having withdrawal symptoms.  The recommendation was to go up on the valium to cover the symptoms, and to taper when stable.

Does that make sense?  Or will adding more benzo at this point increase the withdrawal symptoms?

I am now desperate, about to take medical leave, will need to move before the end of the leave.

Help, please.

Also, now experiencing pretty bad constipation, probably in reaction to the meds slowing my system down.  What do others do for this?
