My difficulties come with the fact that my doctor was unethical. i was taking 2mg of clonazepam for a month, then he told me to cut 1/3 and then jump, i had a seizure so i reinstated. Then he told me to do the same it again in Dec 2012. Of course, i had a seizure again, so he prescribed me Gabapentin, then he told me to do the same thing again, Jan/Feb 2013. Which made me feel very sick and reinstated again. This time i was even unable to leave my house. If i did a slow taper from the very beggining i woudn't have suffered this much.  His snarky unethical attitude, probably like :"It was what i was told to do in college, so who cares if there are better ones out there!" is what screwed me over. :'(

You are so right.  They don't know how to prescribe it and they don't know how to get people off of it.  We walk into their offices and assume they know what they are doing.  This could be largely corrected if licensing boards would require all psychs and MD's to attend a one day course (including a certification test) in the proper use of benzos.  And no stinking Pharma reps allowed in the room, damn it.  What would be so difficult about that?

But it looks like you're free now, despite the hell this fool put you through.  Congratulations!
