Question for a friend.

A friend who is starting their taper needs to travel for work they must stay functional.  Is it possible to taper making very small cuts, keeping symptoms manageable while working?  Or, would it be better to wait until they can take accumulated vacation to start taper?  They need to maintain employment.  They travel 90% of the time for work.

I would say make very, very small cuts and see how it goes unless it is a short-term user who could do a rapid taper. Most here need a long time to taper, so unless there are months and months of vacation time accumulated, that plan likely wouldn't work.

For me, also being open to taking other meds to help is what is enabling me to ensure I can continue to work as well.

Have you been about to work fulltime during your taper?

Yes, I work full time and remaining as functional as possible is very important to me, so I am going slow.

But I still have symptoms. If I had a job where I traveled that much I would not be able to do this. And I still have a long way to go, trying to remain optimistic about the future but really who knows how hard this may get?

i asked those questions at the beginning and have gone through a number of scenarios - travel, travel to different time zones, travel to 8000 ft. here are my conclusions - short travel within time zones - you can probably continue to taper. long travel or changing time zones - WATCH OUT. in my case i kept cutting and then was slammed. if you are switching time zones or changing up bedtimes etc, i would try to hold. if you are effective at keeping your sleep routine, maybe cut a bit but be cautious.

surprisingly, switching to high altitude for a week,  i hit normal altitude issue but i was able to make modest cuts, carefully. it wasnt the train wreck i thought it would be.
