Hey all,

So I've had a great window during week 6 and week 7 of no benzos (after about 6-8 weeks of dependence) - for 2 weeks, feeling basically back to normal, so decided to have a few drinks last weekend - only a few, mind you - I was feeling so good I thought I was totally healed...

I was fine for about 2-3 days afterwards, and now am in a wave (it's been a few days)

It seems like alcohol impacts people directly afterwards, not days later, but I'm curious to know if anyone has had a crappy wave after drinking that has hit 72-hours AFTER the last drink? It doesn't make much sense to me but I'm new to this!!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated:)

Thanks and all my best

You are still pretty early in WD so it's very likely your wave has nothing to do with the alcohol and was just a wave that was gonna happen regardless.

I had a very identical experience. A couple of days later, I paid for the drinks I had. It seemed as though all of my symptoms came back for a while, and I didn't drink again for another couple of weeks. Hang in there, and maybe either cut back on the drinks, or just don't drink at all for a few more weeks. I don't think one drink hurts, but to play it safe, maybe just leave them alone for a minute.

Through all of this I have handled alcohol with caution. One post said that a person should avoid alcohol for as long as a year after you are symptom free. I still have a symptom or two so I am not symptom free yet. I have personally noticed that when I do have a drink, I will have revved up symptoms starting a day or two later. I tested the waters again this week and sure enough about 24 hours later I got a little dizzy and felt a little nauseous. While a person is withdrawing it probably would be wise to treat this like you are going to AA meetings. I'm not much of a drinker but always enjoy a beer or a glass of wine occasionally. I'm looking forward to being able to enjoy a cold beer on a hot summers day without paying for it for the next 3 or 4 days.

I have posted  (whinged ) this on several other posts but here I go again.

Was enjoying a nice little window last week.

Last night had a very small glass of wine at a dinner party

Last night took usual 7.5 mg remeron.

Awake all night with achy  twitchy legs

Today. jelly legs, feel cruddy, twitchy legs.WAVE

Was the wine worth it.
