Hi I'm Goodchance. I've taken 1-1.5-sometimes 2mg Klonipin once every 3-4 days for 6-7 years, then switched to 1-1.5 mg Xanax once every 3 or 4 days for 2 months. I would feel very bad take benzos feel better. Then stopped and got very sick. Realized wd. Boy do I have a question for BenzoBuddies. Thanks and hope to talk soon. Real soon! O.K. I'm back. No access to xanax only k. Now taking 1.5 mg k trying to stabilize before starting titration taper. Question is can I switch in mid stream from xanax to k? I feel mighty sick at times. Once or twice a day. Never feel well. Any advice out there? Thanks

Edit: Corrected dosage details at member's request

Hello, Goodchance :) - welcome to BenzoBuddies!

So sorry you ran into the harsh side of benzodiazepines, but you have come to the right place to find some help.

I'm so glad you decided to join the forum - you'll find plenty of information and support here. Our members have gone through all aspects of benzodiazepine use and withdrawal, so you'll be able to connect with others who understand what you're going through and can tell you what has worked for them.

Please feel free to post to any of the specialized boards, which can all be accessed from the BenzoBuddies Community Forum homepage. Based on the information provided in your introduction, the following links may be a good starting place for you. There you may post your questions, and members can offer advice on how to plan your taper from here on out.

  General Taper Plans

  Withdrawal Support During Your Taper

When you have a chance, we highly recommend that you take a look at The Ashton Manual, which is an authoritative source on what to expect during withdrawal and recovery, authored by Dr. C. Heather Ashton, who is an expert in the field. It provides a great deal of information that can be very reassuring during any stage of this process, including a list of common symptoms with helpful explanations on the reasons for their existence.

For those who are currently tapering, we suggest reducing no faster than 5-10% every 10-14 days, and some taper even slower than that. One exception: very short-term users of a few weeks or less may be able to taper faster than that.

Hello LeslieAsh    Goodchance here. Just read my introduction and noticed a major typo. Wasn't thinking clearly at all, like most days. I've taken 1 - 1.5 mg clonazapam once every 3-4 days for 6 to 7 YEARS, not months. Big diff there!  Also while I'm here I want you to know my 3rd post or so I posted my concerns for an elderly (81 yr. old.) friend of mine but wrote it in first person format. It was kindly but firmly pointed out to me by another concerned member by way of a P.M. Won't happen again. Good news is I'm water titrating from 1mg K divided dose (3x daily) using 250 ml. water with 1ml pulls daily. Slow I know but I'll start slow.Hope I can stay in good graces with B.Bs as there was no harm intended, and I desperately need the support I find on B.Bs. Be well, Goodchance. P.S. If at all possible, a reply via P.M. or not,as any reply would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely Goodchance.
