Very concerned and new to this

Hello everyone. 3 months ago I was prescribed 5mg diazepam to help me sleep whilst my fluoxetine kicked in. Three weeks ago under doctors ordered I halved the dose for 2 weeks and all was fine. Then last week I was instructed to take half a tablet and a quarter tablet alternate nights. Then this week have been instructed to just take a quarter. On Sunday my anxiety returned and I went to see doctor today who thinks my taper was done too quickly. He's now given me liquid diazepam to taper more slowly. Can anyone tell me when the anxiety is likely to settle? I'm so scared.

I am pleased your doctor is supporting you with a taper. Sorry about the anxiety it is an awful  symptom but  it will get better.  Tapering slow can help to minimize withdrawal effects.  It is generally recommended to taper no more than 5-10% every 10-14 days.  This is a guideline and it is ok to adjust this schedule for your own comfort.

Thank you for your reply. This doctor seems to know what he's doing so I trust him. I just can't believe that from such a low dose this could happen to me. Do you know how long it could take for me to feel better? I have a toddler to care for and feel so alone.
