She has published a book with the same title.

Thanks so much Fiona! I'm glad that Katinka has written a book and is determined to get the news out to others.

On a personal note, I'm thankful that I didn't take Prozac or Paxil. Almost everyone was telling me I needed an AD for anxiety, and I almost took them up on it. When I read about Paxil, that one of the side effects was suicidal ideation, it stopped me cold. I also knew someone who had a very difficult time getting off that drug.

Thanks, Lapis and Terry.

I am so glad you didn't take Prozac or Paxil, Terry.  I have been on both but not for any length of time.  Prozac caused severe insomnia in my case and I had to stop taking it.  I can't remember taking Paxil but it was recorded in my medical notes.  I have  been very fortunate to have taken A/Ds for almost 40 years and to emerge unscathed, at least as far as I can tell.  They may of course have caused damage that I am unaware of.  The benzos have definitely been my downfall.  >:( >:(

Unfortunately, I did take Prozac. I regret that very much, but of course, I didn't have the information I needed in order to make a good decision about it. It was supposed to help my dizziness, but I think it had the opposite effect. It also likely interacted interacted with the benzodiazepine....Ugh, such regret! I'd warn anyone to do A LOT of research before taking any of the SSRIs.

Yes, if only we had known what we know now!!  >:( >:(

Thanks Fiona, so sad, but yet another class of pills that may destroy a life and all those that must see a loved one going through a horrible experience. I was given a prescription early on when they were looking for the reason for my dizziness, and The Doctor was sure I needed it, well I took one Prozac and I could not talk and just sat and stared and it finally wore off, and I threw them away, I told the Doctor, that I was not depressed, and no thank you for any more AD's. Wish Valium had done the same to me. :tickedoff:

I guess it really was a blessing that you had such a bad reaction to prozac.  Yes it is a pity it wan't the same with valium!!

And now we are paying the price!!  :tickedoff:

It's bad enough that I have to take 10 blood pressure pills! My head is so foggy. I'm sure adding Paxil or Prozac to the mix would really mess me up. No way to turn back the clock, unfortunately, but you have made great strides, Fiona!! Of course you wish for more, and so do I. We just have to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

This was great. I listened to her on Dr. Peter Breggin Hour as well. Lots of great information/stories on his podcast.

I didn't know she had been on Peter Breggin's programme or maybe I have just forgotten.  >:(

I am sorry you are on so many BP pills, Terry.  It is horrible having a foggy head.  You are right, we just have to keep putting one foot in front of the other.  I feel fortunate that I am seeing steady improvement, little by little.  I hope you will continue to make progress too.

Thank you very much Fiona. I am off Xanax for about 8 months now, no other drugs. I told my prescriber I would never go near the antidepressants. Xanax was the worst thing I've ever been through. Peace. Karuna
