Head and facial pressure is wearing me out...

This symptom is just too much. I am so done with it. I can't imagine ever taking a benzo again, but this is so unbearable. Guess I'm just venting to whoever will listen, I'm sorry guys. This is really hard to deal with.😭

It really does get better. It took 11 mos to go away, and it was the last physical symptom to leave..

Thank you Fergie. This symptom is so draining. I think it's going to be the last one to leave for me too. It's so depressing, and there's really no escaping it.

I can tell you that this symptom has gotten better for me, but unfortunately it does take a while.

I know the feeling. I'm only 5 weeks free of Klonopin and constantly feel like my head is in a vice. With the head pressure do you also have the feeling that your brain is like crawling with ants? I don't really know how to explain it. But it's horrible and pretty scary!

Hey  Mbusybee!

I'm sorry that this is wearing on your nerves.. I totally understand it!  For me, from benzo w/d, the head and facial pressure was with me for most of the time during my 7 month taper and lasted about 3-4 months after I jumped.  I always felt a lot of pressure on my forehead, and i had various "brain" symptoms, like it felt like my brain was liquid, moving around in my head, it felt like it was in a vise grip (w/ varying strengths), it sometimes felt like the brain was swelling too big for my skull, and sometimes parts of my brain would just go numb.. I didn't have the facial pressure too bad, except for pressure behind my eyes, and like i said, on my forehead.  oh, and lest I forget, that it also felt like I was wearing a tight wool hat much of the time, and i got brutal "headrush" feelings of being extremely lightheaded, whenever I'd bend over, or stand up..

Are you experiencing any of that still?

So, guess what? I get to go through all of this again!!! : )

A few weeks after i jumped off of clonazepam, I tried to go c/t off of the risperadal i take, (which is a powerful anti-psychotic I was put on during "tolerance w/d" a few years ago), and I had an awful time of it.. i re-instated to 3/4 of my original dose, but all of these head symptoms got much worse for a couple of months.. Anyway, I've just begun tapering off of the risperidal in a more sensible way, and the head stuff is coming back again, and i have to accept that i'm going to feel it all again for at least the next 3-4 months.. This head pressure also creates a lot of "cog fog" for me - does it do that for you??

this shit we have to go through, sometimes gets me so mad at these pharma companies and stupid doctors, but there's no recourse that i know of, unless we go completely "off the reservation" and get vigilante on these entities, but that's just a sick fantasy! : )

oh well, i know it did pass for me from the benzo w/d, so hopefully it will pass for you as well, and soon! - Eric

Yes, Eric. I've had most of the sensations you describe. And the cog fog... OMG!  When the pressure gets so tight, I can't keep a straight thought in my head. I also get really nauseated and dizzy. I can't describe it in words many times. I am so sorry that you have to go through this again. I sometimes wonder if this withdrawal symptom is common to other meds as well as benzos. I guess you have answered that question. But, it is good to know that it eventually does get better and/ or go. It really pisses me off. I've never experienced anything like it in my life, and I've experienced a lot of physical and emotional challenges in my life. So, I'm not a lightweight, but when it comes to this, I am.

This is by far my worst symptom.  I always had it on the days I didn't sleep well the night before.  Now, I'm getting it whether I get good/interupted sleep.  For the longest time, I thought that if I had good sleep, I'd have few symptoms.....NOT!!! I am finally sleeping much better and I still have this aweful facial pressure.

The pressure is behind/above and below my eyes.  It also resonates to my temples and back of head.  My back muscles are really sore whenever I have the head pain. Simply dreadful. I've had this pressure 24/7 for the past 5 days.  :'( I can barely get myself to do anything.

I'm so glad to know that this is normal though.  I was getting worried that I did something to reverse my healing.
