[fe...]
I'm sorry I have asked this before. I take flexeril , a muscle relaxer, occasionally. I looked it up, and it says it's not a benzo. But does it affect my brain like a benzo!?
[li...]
It depends on the muscle relaxant. It looks like it doesn't act on GABA. Not like a benzo. It may be related to tricyclic antidepressants. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclobenzaprine

[Di...]
I'm not sure about flexeril, but Baclofen hits the GABA-B receptors. Benzos hit the GABA-A receptors.
[re...]
I found flexeril is quite similar. I would try to stay clear.
[Di...]
I take Baclofen for muscle spasms, that go along with my neck and back issues. I take 40mg/day. I asked my doc to up my dose, and he said no, because Baclofen can be very sedating. I presume any muscle relaxer is sedating. (maybe not?) [li...]
isn't Flexeril sedating like a tricyclic antidepressant ? I don't know.
[an...]
I hate to say it depends, but that's what I found. When I wasn't on as many meds-they didn't seem to affect me as much-and I rotated thru Flexeril, Skelaxin, and Tizanidine (I know most are the generic names) Unfortunately, Baclofen seemed to work the best. Ive managed to drop from 80mg to 55mg a day--but cant drop further without it having a negative impact on my withdrawal from Seroquel and then the Benzo. But for now, it does help the muscle spasms and other chronic pain Ive developed, but I'm looking forward to getting off of it too. As with everything--educate yourself first....before agreeing to anything each has its own side affects.
[fe...]
Thanks to all who responded, I'm still taking flexeril, a muscle relaxer. It helps me sleep. I know I need to stop, since I have an addictive personality..
