Has anyone ever used a sleep app or CD?

2 years ago I purchased "I Can Make You Sleep". It felt like snake oil, but I was desperate. I tried it again this week after about 10 days of no to light sleep. Averaging like 2 hours a night. Anyway, when I listen to the hypnosis phase of the app I fall asleep. Every time. Sometimes I only fall asleep for a few minutes, but I fall asleep. Is there something useful in here. Binaural sound? Something?

It might help for some people. During the worst of my withdrawal I tried sleep headphones with various sleep inducing recordings, but they did nothing for me. At that time nothing worked, so that is not too much of an indictment against other people trying it out.

When I was first off xanax I wasn't sleeping at all...like, not even 20 minutes.  I downloaded a track called Ocean Waves from Amazon for about a dollar and put it on repeat and slept alone in a cool, dark room.  It did help me start sleeping again.  No foghorns, no gulls shrieking, just waves.

I listen to rain and thunderstorms on repeat all the time.  Doesn't necessarily get me to sleep, but is very relaxing.  I can rest.

Do you happen to know which one?

When I was really in the thick of no sleep, I used various "sleep sounds", and at the minimum they helped me to feel very relaxed, sometimes put me to sleep. But I apparently overused them, and "ruined" them. I began to associate my favorite ones with insomnia, kind of like how you get sick of the bed, smell of the pillow, your bedroom ceiling, the nightlight etc..after relentless insomnia. I just haven't had any desire to try them again, even though it would probably help during noisy nights.

Meowie,

I know what you mean by relating sleep recordings with insomnia. There are a couple that I still cannot listen to without feeling a little something not so good.

I'm sorry to say, but this comment just destroyed me.  I had never associated my recordings with insomnia, but now I will.  The power of suggestion, I suppose.  I know you meant no harm, but I feel like I've been fucked.
