Recommended Posts

Hi, I was prescribed with diazepam in February 2007, for one panic attack. I arrived to take 20mg at day, now I'm in my 12 month in reduction, in 3,5mg, the last milligrams are very hard. I use a scale for tapper, 0,25 each time, I need more than 2 weeks for be well in the dose. I don't speak much english, sorry the mistakes.

Dear Proleva,

Welcome  to Benzo Buddies! Your English is just fine and it's easy to understand your introduction.  I see you were put on benzos after experiencing one panic attack and remained on them. It sounds like you are doing a sensible taper, using a scale, but I will tell you that many people find the lower doses to be more challenging. I also needed to wait two weeks between reductions to let the symptoms settle a little, that is pretty common.

You might try to slow your taper down at this point to minimize the withdrawal effects. Generally a taper rate of no more than 5-10% every 10-14 days is suggested. I'll give you a link to the General Taper Plans for additional information.

I'll also give you a link to the Withdrawal Support Board where you can receive feedback from members.

There is an excellent resource about these types of drugs and how to withdraw called the Ashton Manual. It was written by an expert in the field and I'll include that link as well.

We'll be here to support and encourage you while on your journey to be benzo free. Please do ask questions, we're here to help.

I think your doctor is a criminal. Everybody has panic attacks once in awhile, even the healthy.

Just too much coffee can cause it !

Seems like you are almost done, you should be

proud of yourself for winning this battle.

Good luck, Viele Glucke, Bon Chance, Srecno Pot !

Thanks for your advice on dealing with the night time anxiety. I found that singing, which I used to do really helps. All that deep breathing from the gut and concentrating on the music. It is easier for me than just deep breathing when I get that tight, breathless feeling

Can you become addicted to Seroquel ?. When I was in the pysch. unit there was a woman who had not slept for 14 nights due to the seroquel she had taken for several years. I thought that it was the only non- addicting nightime med.

My old p-dec recommended Seroquel XR, and i never felt it did anything for me. I found out later that it costs $9 per pill, and the 10 year patent expires jan 1, 2017, so it is being 'dumped' on us for the sake of $$$. After Jan 1, the generics are legal and the price will drop to maybe 50 cents a pill. I got off it as soon as I found this out.

Thank you all, now I'm stocked in 3,5, it's like this dose needs a lot of time, I hope to can keep tapering soon. Yes, my doctor is awful, I just become 20 when he prescribed me and the panic attack happened in the work I had, it was just stress but he put me in a very long treatment.
